Hey, folks! Here is the cover Joe D. put together for us!
(http://i1168.photobucket.com/albums/r497/srpyle_1970/Softcover_01_zps6a6e96e4.jpg) (http://s1168.photobucket.com/user/srpyle_1970/media/Softcover_01_zps6a6e96e4.jpg.html)
So the softcover should be ready soon. Hardcover as well sometime thereafter. We will be discounting the books slightly as a nod to folks who bought the PDF and also want a hard copy.
Everyone benefits because of all the great fans who stepped up and bought the PDF.
Thanks!
-
Soon, my precious, soon...
-
Great news, must have these in hard copy, there's something about an actual book that you don't get from a PDF
Regards
Jim
-
Well, time to upgrade again.
-
Great news! I'll be waiting for the hardcover!
-
Looks interesting. I've been shopping around for rules system to do martial arts based superpower games. Would this work for that? Is there a martial arts system or is it more based on traditional four-color comic super powers?

There are not any built-in martial arts systems. You could make your own using different power sets though.
Buying Weapon, Super Leap, and Reach could allow you to mimic a "Dragon style" that might include powerful blows, lots of jumping around, and some kind of breath attack, for example.

And the softcover is ready!!!!

And news on the hardcover? :-)
Grimm

Bought one. As I usually carry 2-3 rulebooks at a time, the lighter cover is a preference for me.
Also, I have to say, under $40AUD for a rulebook printed and delivered is pretty damn awesome, especially when compared to over $100AUD for the Batman minis game book.
Mad props Scott.

Coming soon. Joe and I are working it out. There were some weird sizing issues with Lulu when Joe loaded the hardcover files, but it is totally fixable and we're on it.
Thanks to anyone who orders, and for all of the interest!
-
Thanks for the heads up Scott
Order placed! Can't wait
Regards
Jim

Is there somewhere I can buy a copy of the PDF? I like having them on my Tablet as I can carry around a searchable library of games.
-
I know you can buy a copy at Crossover Miniatures, there are a few other sites....
Looking forward to buying a copy in March....assets are frozen right now due to Conan kickstarter, plus I have a weekend event that I am building scenery for so money is slowly crawling out the window...
-
I ordered mine yesterday. If it works out, when the hardback is released I'll order that and give away the paperback to someone to entice them into playing.
It's either that or I'm a sucker for gorillas with bionic arms.

Thanks!
-
Certainly, no problem Scott,
Here you go, front and back covers
Regards
Jim
-
Looks nice ! If scott agree, a pic of the inside pages would be nice too !
If someone order the hardcover version, I'd be interested to know if the book can stay open on a table?
thank you

If Scott okays it I can take some interior page shots, there's some lovely artwork
And the layout is very clean in style.

Jim, go to it! A couple of shots of the interior will be nice for this "proof of life" exercise! lol
-
Excellent, as Sundayhero said, I was wary of doing it without your permission, but now I have
Permission of the supreme overlord:-
I thought these four shots gave best overview,
First is explaining goal rolls pages with nice line art,
Second is the end of close combat showing the nice explanatory diagrams and start of ranged combat, third shows a page with a clear example of designing a character and finally a shot
showing a couple of the example character archetypes.
Hope this helps
Regards
Jim

Wow, really nice layout ! :o
-
Wow, really nice layout ! :o
Yeah, Joe D. killed it on the layout! He busted his hump and made it look amazing!
Thanks for posting those pics, Jim! "Supreme Overlord" is too lofty a title. Perhaps "Doyen of Dice"? ;D
-
Can't spend money....want a copy now.....must wait....willpower failing....wife will kill me.
-
I'm weak too, but sadly today I spent money on a new (and very boring) fencing for my house :? So no hobby toys this month I'm afraid >:(
-
Thanks, guys! The great thing about Lulu is that it's there when you're ready. Never out of print or stock!
-
Nice looking book. Sure has come a long way since 1st edition way back when. Has it really been 15 years already?
-
Hello!!!
Dont know anything about but seems like a interesting read :D
Is it available in Europe...?
Hardcover or at least Softcover..?
Thank you
Florian
-
Looking forward to my hardcover, whch should arrive early this week!
-
Florian:- I'm in the UK and my copy came from Lulu Europe, it says they are based in Italy
and France although mine was posted from the UK so I'm pretty certain you'll have no problem
No matter where in Europe you are.
It was delivered fairly quickly too, less than a week from ordering to delivery.

Jim

Scott,
The HC has been available and you didn't let us know? :-)

Got my hardcover today. I'll see about taking some pics of it this weekend. Although, it looks pretty much the same as the softcover. Overall nice presentation and great book!
-

Yeah he did let us know didn't he? What the hell was i doing? I must have been a catnapper as well. Serves me right for not rechecking to be sure before my post.
But Leeg, you got your copy. Get those pics us. :-)
And, your comment about being like the softcover. I have just one question, from you initial review, is the HC worth the extra $7 to get overt he SC?
Grimm
-
OK, I will take some pics this weekend. Although, as I already said, it looks very much like the softcover.
Do I think that the hardcover is worthy the extra bucs? If you can afford it (and it's not really much more then the SC) I would definitely recommend it. For 7 USD more you get a much sturdier presentation of the book. The binding looks good, and nothing beats a hardback for gaming, IMO.
-
I can't wait to see pics of it !
thanks
-
OK, here ya' go!
-
really nice :-*
-
Thanks, Leegwonfu! Looks great!
-
Picked up mine today. Lulu has free shippping at the moment with the code SHIPFLASH.
-
Bought my Hardback last night, had to pay shipping so the free code is not valid anymore....went with cheap shipping but depending on how they ship it I should get it well before the 15 day window.

Just ordered mine. Slacking it seems. Don't know why i didn't pull the trigger already.
The shipping code was only for the1 9th. :-(
Seems my 15% code didn't want to work right either. :-( :-(
But mine is coming. It is like XMas.

Thanks, guys! At some point I need to order one for myself! lol
-
Not bad, ordered on the 20th late in the day, just got notice that it is ready and being shipped...looking forward to seeing the book.
-
I goofed and ordered the soft cover. Wasn't paying close attention. The soft cover is a nice book though. Looking forward to reading it.

I almost did then went back and found the hardback link here and made sure I had the right one.
-
So ordered mine on the 22nd and it arrived today. AWESOME
USPS still dont know how to deliver a package correctly. cant seem to see why they are having such issues. NOT AWESOME
Anyway. Let me first say i haven't bought a new rulebook, or to say new rulebook prices for years. So let me say must mean something i did this for SS 4ed.
I also dont buy my books unless i can see them first. And i have never used Lulu before fora PoD type of setup.
With that said i should have followed my plan that has worked so well for years.
The book has arrived undamaged. The outside looks as pristine as Lee has shown above, and that is about it. MY copy has several issues and blemishes that i dont expect to see in a publication.
Anyone else with a HB copy have any issues with the construction of the book?
and let me also say this has nothing to do with Scott. He does great work and is a standup guy in my book. This may be just a fluke but i am asking others who have used the same service, is this something to expect with a POD service? I really would like to know as i planned on getting three other PoD books printed up in the near future.

My hardback should be here Monday....PM me your issue list and I can match it against mine (or post it) if anything if mine has the same issues as yours we should let LuLu know.
-
Grimm, let me know if you cannot get it worked out with Lulu's quality control and if this is the case, I will send you another rule book.
Generally, their quality is quite good. I recently did a run of 30 books that were made for private consumption only, and I had no discernible issues with any of them. But Lulu does mess up.
PM me and let me know. When I get rolltinder's copy made, if you need another one, I will get one made for you too.
-
Mine is in the mail box today, he sent me photos of the issues...personally I told him to contact Lulu and tell them, to me it isn't acceptable quality for the service.
I plan to check my book against his photos tonight to see if there are any of the same issues.
-
Havent really read mine...
can you tell a example of those issues..?
-
Havent really read mine...
can you tell a example of those issues..?
Here is what Grim told me and I was going to check with mine...
One pic is foreign matter under the inside cover. Good enough to put a dimple in the next page.
A pic of the binding. You can see it wasn't fully glued. For now it is ok but after prolonged use will it split or get worse?
A couple of pages were misglued, for lack of a better term, and to separate em would tear the page.
In the end, i wouldn't have bought this particular copy on a shelf if i had a chance to look it over first.
As I said: I would bring it up to Lulu as I am sure they would make the book copy right....
-
Thank you...
none of those with my copy..
-
Code is FOOLME until April 2nd for 25% off print books and 50% off ground shipping....
-
So far, mine has none of the issues...the binding at the bottom of the book near the spine is a bit weak with glue, but an easy fix with some white glue. So far, no issues like Grimm had...
-
Nope, i am the special one. :-)
Getting with Lulu when i get home.
Glad everyone elses copies are good.
Grimm
UPDATE..........
Last couple of days been figuring out Lulu's process. Not hard at all mind ya but a link they sent me aren't Chrome friendly.
But Lulu has worked me out excellently. Sending me a new book at no charge. BE PoDed and sent to me in a few. Said they seen the few pics i sent was more than enough for a replacement.
Said the old book wont need to be sent back.
I did let Lulu know that everyone has been happy with the process and their product and i was the only unfortunate to get a unperfect copy.
Kudos to all.
Here is to hope the new copy doesn't have repeats.
-
Good news, Grimm!

Good news, Grimm!
Yep all good. Just waiting for the email that says it is on the way. ;-)
Just hope it is a good copy.

Lulu's having a 30% off all print books sale through April 12--code is APRIL30
Just an FYI!
-
I missed the April sale, but I have ordered the HC version today. :)
I still honestly think it would have been funded via KS and was genuinely surprised the project was cancelled in the last few days. :)
-
I was surprised as well. Seemed to be going okay. Relying on tracking software to predict funding has led to similar last-minute pulls, though.
-
Googled Supersystem 4th in print and found this thread and purchased a hardcover copy from Lulu - they even has a 25% off Memorial Weekend sale on until midnight tonight. They're practically paying you to pick up a copy of this awesome (I assume, I'll know for sure in a few days) book! I was really disappointed when the kickstarter was cancelled, but this is/was great news! Just curious though, the kickstarter campaign mentioned 256 pages and the Lulu version is 180. I assume Scott used powers beyond the ken of mortal men to compress all that 4th edition goodness into fewer pages?
Hmmm, how many figs can I get painted up in the next 2 weeks?

That page count number was based on a an older, smaller layout model. When we went to the standard, 8.5 x 11 format, the page count went way down.
As to your other question--only you can tell us how many minis you can crank out before your book arrives! ;D
-
I'm probably wrong but I thought I read a post from Scott somewhere that the printed book also came with a PDF download. Just wanted to confirm before asking Lulu support.
-
Not that I am aware of. I bought the printed book from Lulu a few months ago. There was nothing about it then.
-
That's fair enough, appreciate the info. If the book is as good as I hope, I may end up buying a PDF copy for quick(er) reference and text searching. My copy has shipped and should arrive Oct 6th. I'm quite looking forward to it filling out my holy trinity of super hero gaming alongside Batman and Pulp City.
-
Hi guys, I got my hardcover version of Super System from Lulu, and it arrived well packaged and in good condition - great price for a hardcover, and so much better than printing out the PDF on an inkjet. Highly recommended
-
Yeah my softcover showed up yesterday too. Very happy with it. Hoping to get a game in tomorrow.
