Hey,
Haven't really made up my mind what to construct for this competition, but to make it fitting I am going to do something with a flamethrower. Hopefully that is good enough for the criteria of the competition.
That said im going to do something to fit with the rest of my post apocalyptic miniatures.
one of my ideas is to do a mech or a tracked on wheeled vehicle.
-
A flamethrower will be fine, just base it large ;)
cheers
James
-
It would probably be vehicle based anyway.
-
So I started my entry today.
Started with some foamboard aswell as a half of something reminicent of a kinderegg capsule, aswell as plasticard and paperclips.

Sofar it's just a turret with a hatch for then the flamethrower is not use aswell as a small viewport for the side/front of the turret.
-
That's taking shape nicely. The components all look like they work together well.
-
Very cool! I am liking it. My only niggle would be the backside of the turret. It just seems to be missing something visually. For a niggle it is not a bad one. The rest absolutely looks the biz.
Snitchy sends.

A maintenance hatch perhaps?
-
Was thinking something like stowage or a small escape hatch but yeah some kind of maintenance box would work (stowage might be bad because it might catch fire..)
I would have liked if I could somehow add a flickering led light flame to the end of the flamer.

Amazeballs 8)

Put some plastic cement on the tip and light it up before the photograph! :D

Can I just say that real fire isn't sanctioned by the competition and forum owners and the builders safety is out upmost concern and that if any harm is caused to the builder we at the Lead Adventure Forum cannot be held responsible...
;)
Do it, it'll look cool :D
cheers

Can't wait to see this with paint on it.
-
So a question, should I base it on a russian tank(t-55..etc) or do a sci fi based vehicle,I would have prefered it to be more "realistic" but aslong as something looks possible it's okay.
I was thinking something similar to the firefighter tanks you sometimes see in Pictures or some odd ARV vehicle
-
Wheeled police/army apc?

How about using this as the basic design.
If you get a cheap tank toy you should be able to rebuild the top and the back to meet the competition requirements. The Russians had a recovery version of the BTR 90 too. That was wheeled but might be another option. Again I am geeking out on your flame thrower. Very nice utilization of bits of what is essentially rubbish. Very cool.

In that case I was thinking more along the lines of this,

Something along those lines, was thinking of getting a warlord plastic t-34 but.. will have to scratchbuild something instead.
-
So started the tracks with the wheels from a 1:35 kv2.
Aswell with a picture of a mockup using the turret, a piece of foamboard and the two tracks.
So what to do now? should I make it into a t-34 and use that as a base for the apc/tank or make it into a civilian excevator mad e ito a tank?
-
Option two - but either would look hot.
-
So I continued with the tank idea(was a bit hard to do a civilian vehicle) and heres the results so far.

The foamboard on the front is supposed to be extra armour made from concrete and the hatch is made from a tic-tac lid.
-
the hatch is made from a tic-tac lid.
Now that is proper recycling. kudos !
-
Very cool mate! 8) it's actually looking like a tank! Honestly I wasn't convinced it would. Nice work so far.
Cheers
Matt.

Slight progress made :P
so I made more shapes to the hull aswell as started to detail it a bit with more hatches/paper.

Comments are welcome.

Bulk looks good, but the shieldingon the turret ring looks too thin/too many layers. Maybe too busy? The first photo of the update has the right shape (ie two sheets of armour).
-
Update, so I made some further progress today.
Added even more details to the hull and the tracks and I Think that im soon finished with the build part of it.
I just need to make some viewports and a detail the rear of the tank.

I like it.
(In case you don't know - the white foamcore on the front of the tank can't take spray paint, you'll need to paint at least that section with a loaded brush first.)
-
I know, but thanks anyways.
Will paint it with the airbrush so....
Any ideas to make the turret more interesting?
-
An antenna or two?
-
This is looking good.

I've discovered that Tamiya sprays don't attack foamcore, which might of interest to those who don't own an airbrush (like me).
-
Any ideas to make the turret more interesting?
Some ideas:
An IR illuminator or spotlight would be a fit.
Could be mounted on the side.
A empty equipment rack or tie down points.
A full equipment rack or tie down points.
A scantily clad tank girl modeled posing seductively on the side.
Extra road wheels on a hard point.
Crew duffel bags.
A bicycle strapped to the side.
My two cents.
Hope that gives you some more ideas.

Sorry to see that this wasn't one to make it the final push. Look forward to seeing it finished.
