Title: Grand Manner
Post by: Helen on September 19, 2008, 12:05:59 AM
Hi Folks,

For folks who aren't aware Grand Manner are providing an opportunity for customers to purchase some scenics and other bits from their catalogue. Next up for release is a German pillbox. Some nice stowage, vehicles and battlefield effects can be found here.

Cheers.

Those items are really inspiring. I’m not sure I’d buy any of them for wargames as such but some of them would be nice little pieces for a minis-diorama. ;)

I think that rumour may have started because Dave took the web shop offline for quite a while.  As he mentions on the news page his father had passed away and he was also trying to get things up to date which is probably why it took a while.  As far as I know he's now operating as normal.

Lots of inspiring models, but all a little beyond my means. Well most of them but there are a few things worth thinking hard about.

Dave is still in business. I placed an order on line last week and received shipping status already.

Dave will be at Crisis and as far as I know everything is fine. Except for his personal loss of course.

Daves' buildings are indeed not exactly cheap, but worth every penny IMHO.

I love Grand Mannor scenery. Cast to the highest quality with the best detail ive seen. But you do pay for that quality.

If you are lucky enough to see them at a show they often provide good deals. My friend and I recently got a trench set and some farm buildings at a show from them  for a very reasonable price.

Yep. Agree completely. I have several Grand Manner pieces, and they are beautiful, solid, and with great interior detail.

They are a bit pricey, particularly if you want to buy a whole set of stuff - but they are top quality, and as RJ says, for those in the UK, he does usually do deals if you catch him at a show...

There are no resin scenery products that I'm aware fo that are comparable with Grandmanner from design quality and casting. It's also worth to note they are usually pretty huge, close to 1:48 in many cases.

I placed a order with them at Colours for an item they didn't have at the show - it arrived within a few days, so no complaints on their service from me.

BTW - they are now doing some nice British WW1 softskin vehicles, including a nice Model T(?) flatbed with twin lewis guns on an AA mount.

According to that list there is also a Model T ambulance and a box-body variant too.

Some interesting pieces.
