looking for figures in the uk that i can use for broadsword
from what i have heard there are a few different periods of history you can choose as
well as the standard barbarian types, im looking to find again in the uk
fantasy barbarians that will work as well as what manufactures others think will
work using historical figures. (i know in another thread there ia tendancy towards
some of the lotr figures from gw but i am not that keen on the scale they seem to be a small version as opposed to the user friendly 28mm) so if you can, please help

I'd suggest you take a look at online shops and decide from what you find there. I'm a friend of Reaper miniatures and Grenadier, but as far as I understood they are not too common in the UK. Take a look at Battlefield Berlin or Miniaturicum online, see which figures work best with you and check out if any shops near you have them. Of course you can always order them via e-mail.

I don't have specific lines to recommend (I think Rhoderic has done a great list someone on this forum) but I always tell people to look at any figures from Ancients lines. Look for companies that produce figures for Ancient Persia or Byzantium or Dark Ages Mongols. Things of that nature. Since Robert E. Howard based his lands of Hyboria on ancient ones, it would fit that you use the same.
If you are using the Tauren setting from Broadsword, the same holds true. My Ibyssian Lion guard are based off Romans from the period after the Fall of Rome. My barbarians are from germanic tribes around 200-500AD.

Might be worthwhile you looking at the Army Showcases on the Frothers Unite forum. Most fantasy races are on there. Reaper miniatures can be bought in the UK online from RAFM.

If you can I would suggest getting to a wargames exhibition. Then you can look at the figures close up and see how they compare both in quality and size.

If you are looking for generic Conan style barbarians, you cannot do better than em4.

They have the old Grenadier range sculpted by Mark Copplestone, which are still lovely sculpts. The pictures on the site don't do them justice, so don't be put off by a ropey paintjob here and there. And to cap it all, they are dirt cheap and the service is excellent.

I second JollyBob - I have most of the Fantasy Warriors from back when Grenadier brought them out - 2 of the characters are sitting i cue on my paint-desk, awaiting my attention (undercoated, and with skin base coat - which means almost finished lol )
They are VERY nice, and very conanish!
