Title: I am looking for ACW Perry compatible sharp riflemen
Post by: commissarmoody on February 07, 2015, 10:19:20 PM
As the title states I am looking for ether figures or separate sharps rifles to make some ACW sharpshooters. Just don't know of many other ACW ranges that are compatible or at least close enough in size.

Did you check Redoubt Enterprises for ACW sharpshooters?
They had specific figures.

I think I will do that, how well do the Perry line and redoubt pair next to each other?

If it is Berdans sharpshooters you are looking for I would suggest the Foundry ones:

I might have to go that route,  Redoubt doesn't have them. How well do the Wargames foundry scale up to the Perry ACW line scale wise? I am mostly looking for guys to represent troops armed with beach loaders or repeaters like the Snyder repeating rifle and carbine.  Or the colt revolving rifle. I guess I could take the dismounted cavalry figs and replace their swords with kit sacks and or extend the length of the rifles.

That what I get for trying to look things up with my phone. Thank you rumacara, does any on have any comparable photos of These companies together?  Just asking because I already have a few of the Perry box sets and like the figs to be close to each other is size and scale.

Unfortunatelly no perrys acw but i placed a napoleonic figure (they should be the same size discounting the shacko).

From left to right Redoubt, Foundry (Mike Owen sculp), Foundry old range, Perry miniature.

Hope its usefull.

I don't have a picture immediately to hand, but happy to try and dig one out for you, but I have the Redoubt Berdan's Sharpshooters set, and much of my ACW collection is a happy mix of Perry, Foundry, Dixon and Redoubt and they all get alopng very well. The Berdan's are slighter heftier than the run of the mill Redoubt types, but it is one of the best sets for this unit that I have found. The detail is spot on right down to their special knapsacks, terrific poses, each one an individual, and perfect to denote a set of crack troops. Hope this is of help.
