Title: Watch Tower?
Post by: Harry Faversham on February 13, 2015, 01:09:39 PM
I've seen piccys of a 28mm circular (Afghan?) tower with steps up the side, and wondered which company produces it?

If it's the one I'm thinking of - in the picture below - it's from the Warriors and Weapons Battle Game

The below would cover it with a bit of conversion work. It's from Hudson and Allen (USA) but it is soft resin foam- not too soft but I son't know personally how well it would cut.

I have seen conversions of Hundon and allen buildings that look fantastic like the one we had at our Battle of Verneuil demo game at Salute pictured below the H&A tower. (Painterman had it converted- he's this forum).

There is an MDF Sudan Block House and watch tower on ebay at the moment which I thought looked quite nice:

If you have the cash to spare talk to James at Oshiro model terrain (Jimbibbly on here). He made the rather spiffing Pathan tower you'll see in the thread about playtesting 'The Men Who Would Be Kings' based on a picture I sent him...

Warlord Games has a tutorial on how to make that one.
Search 28mm Mesopotamian watchtower.
Couldn't find a commercially available one though I'm sure I've seen one somewhere.

Nothing came up- perhaps they've removed the tutorial?

That's the one featured in the Kevin Dallimore book. The Foundry Miniatures Painting and Modelling Guide - pages 158 and 159. There is no mention of a manufacturer - although I would suggest it is a Monolith Designs piece.

@Atheling
I just typed 28mm Mesopotamian Watchtower into google. Selected images and it was there. Linked right to Warlord.
Double checked just now. Still works. Or go to warlord site and type Mesopotamian into search bar. Using my tablet otherwise I'd post the link

Ah..... Thanks.

I searched for it on their website! didn't think Googling would improve matters after that  :)

Hudson and Allen makes a neat desert for with a nice watch tower.  You can see the one I did in the last picture of my Darkest Africa Gallery at www.warin15mm.com/28MM-African-Adventure-Gallery.html
