Does anyone know of any pre-made crashed spacecraft other than the Aquila from the GW Battle of Macragge box? I really don't feel like making my own, and want to have a crashed spaceship for a terrain piece for a specific scenario I am building.
Any clues for me, or do I just get the knives and smash up a model?
-
Ainsty do a small crashed shuttle but it's very basic.

Wasn't there a crashed UFO in resin for the new mars attack game?

Yep - there is one.
Scroll down a long way: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/mars-attacks-the-miniatures-game (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/mars-attacks-the-miniatures-game)

Not sure about commercial ones.
Monolith used to have a resin-cast crashed Roswell style saucer a few years ago.
Some of the Victorian/steampunk SF tunneling machines emerging from the ground might also be a possible - might need to add tail fins or a debris trail.
Best large one I saw was home made using the remains of a "Dyson" cyclone vaccuum cleaner, cut at a jaunty angle and fixed to a base.
If you don't want a huge wreck, you can get toy Dysons....

You can use a papercraft one from here http://www.toposolitario.com/workshop/index_papermodels.html (http://www.toposolitario.com/workshop/index_papermodels.html)
This one for example:

Huh. I think the best I can remember seeing was the old Star Wars Rebel Transport that Games Workshop cut up for a crashed spaceship. I was afraid I was going to have to either buy a cheap kit and smash it, and it is looking more and more like it.
And while the papercraft are neat, I have never been a fan of paper - too easily destroyed.

I think the wrecked vacuum cleaner may have been for a Starship Troopers table

Paper if well treated will last you years. I have a modern cityscape that is now 8 years old and has served in dozens of games and still looks good. And the skyscrapers are foldable!
Here are some more papercraft ships to crash :D

I think my favorite was a Jupiter II and the engines from SW Pod racer splattered over a table landscape, but THAT was a) a lot of work, b) probably expensive.
So, how big were you thinking, both of the craft and the foot print of the site? Any proprietary lines to steer clear of? "I can't used a crashed Galaxy Quest!" ;)

Out of curiosity, what don't you like about the GW one?
I have it and think it is pretty cool.
-
I'd like a footprint of somewhere between 10 and 18 inches in diameter of total space.
I don't mind the GW one, but I am on a budget, and cannot find it for less than $35 (with shipping) - and that is an awful lot for what that is.

I have never had one last longer than 1 season, but I also have to store my terrain in boxes in the garage when it is not in use.

Just to prove it, here is a picture of them from last september:

Oh, I don't disbelieve you - I just have had zero luck, and am not a fan of the look anyway.
That is a nice looking board, though.

A couple of years back I got a nice crashed saucer type craft from Black Cat Bases. I think it was only about £10, but I'm not sure what's going on with BCB at present so it may be a hassle to order if you are looking for something in a hurry.
-
How large is it? I might take the chance, as I always had good luck with them, but, man, their record lately...
-
Amera have one which is similar to the Macragge one from GW.

It's maybe about 8 inches across. I think there is a picture on the website. Yeah, right, here we go:

Looks like two versions but I only have the UFO.
Good luck if you decide to take a punt.

I have a crashed saucer type craft from Petco. It is about 8-10" in diamiter. Alreaady crashed into a pile of dirt.

Really? I didn't see one on their website when I searched them....

Hmm - I saw one that was about 4" in diameter at Petsmart, but never saw one any larger. I'll look at the Petco down here.
-
I think the amera one will be the crashed helicopter gunship , it is similar to the macragge shuttle and is only 4 quid
-
That's the one!

I recently bought and disassembled a used Star Wars Millenium Falcon (the BIG toy) mostly for it's interior parts and greebling potential. I'd be happy to break out the dremel and cut you some nice chunks from the hull that would cover the footprint you want and sit nicely at half-buried-angles. All for a very reasonable price.
Send me a PM if you're interested.

I hear you both on luck-with-paper-construction, and how good his looks!
The piccie brings up another idea: the 'copter with the front chopped at an angle, lodged in the face first in the crater, with some damaged engines lying about might pass.

I'd just be inclined to get a tin of Bondo and have at it with a knife and rasp. Maybe use empty shampoo bottles or similar, if I could scrounge such, to mold shapes I could then gob and smooth together to block out a more complex shape. Could probably knock something out very fast that way, and it would be durable as all get out.
