Post by: marcusluis on February 19, 2015, 11:00:44 PM
Building a gaming board for early war in the far east Singapore, Hong Kong and Burma but need help. Is it all jungle there or more palm tree type terrain. Thinking of countryside rather than cities cause its easier..

Having just read Moon over Malaya (highly recommended), it is a mix of jungle and plantation with planters houses and villages/kampongs interspersed. A number of rivers and creeks provide bridges and fords to be battled over and there are some railway lines but not many of them. Roads are few, more tracks than roads but not particularly large or wide.

What I know of Burma ( I have only read about kohima) is dense jungle and steep hills, with stretches of open ground, Kohima does offer some good different terrain ideas though

Depends where in Burma you are modelling I guess.  Here's some contemporary footage, from around Rangoon for the most part I think:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iJSYvx79krQ

From my reading into it, it seems like it was a mixed bag of open terrain to dense jungle and all things in between.
