Title: Little Walker and Thrift Store Bonanza

Back in 2002 a toy was released that had great VSF potential, a six legged wind up from Battlebots. They were included in kid's fast food meals and showed up in thrift stores in large numbers. I bought two. The turret is a water bottle cap, the machine gun is made from a stirring straw and a bit of wire and the smoke stack is a pen. I lost one over the years but last weekend found several at a second hand shop 25 cent bin! The fig is a 28 mm Artizan Legionaire.  I will use them as armoured cars as opposed to tanks.

Have a few of these, and I'm not sure if it was the original color or shape of the legs that put me off them.  :?

Do agree the turret and pipe help, but I'm thinking these might do better darker. Verdigris brass first came to mind, or even iron black.

I have to admit that the fact that the body sits lower than the legs drives me crazy.  lol

What does the underside look like? Could they be taken apart & put back together with the body inverted?

Now that you mention it...  ;D

One thinks it must drag itself along, lifting legs while the 'box' sits on the ground.

I hate to bring in the dreaded r word, but that actually does sound a lot more realistic then actual full support walking machines.

How about putting some wheels on and using the legs as "mudguards"?

Sorry if this is threadomancy, but I do recall some early robotic walkers having six legs, always keep three planted to make a stable tripod, the move the other three forward, lower, and move the first three.

Again, I don't recall if it's worth the effort, but if you could lower the center one on one side, and the fore and aft ones on the other side...

Or, just say these are 'parked'.
