Title: Paul Muller greens.
Post by: joshuaslater on March 11, 2015, 02:09:58 AM
Hey y'all.  I've slowly been accumulating a bunch of greens from Paul Muller for an upcoming kickstarter.  I'm posting the link to the facebook page where you can see them, even if you're not on facebook.  Any feedback appreciated.

They don't blow my skirt up, but they're neat.  And different.  I'd buy some if they were reasonably priced.  Should I know who Paul Muller is?

He's a sculptor who has been around for a while.  He did the pieces for the Fractured Dimensions kickstarter, some great work for Otherworld miniatures, and lots more.

Those are fantastic!  I can't wait to get my hands on some. I'll look forward to the Kickstarter.  Paul Muller is one of my favorite sculptors.

Paul muller, also one of my favourite sculptors. Love the look of these. Hope they aren't too expensive though.

Great looking sculpts, nice to see a different take on lesser demon types.
When you run the KS make sure there is a "1 of each sculpt" for skirmish gamers.

Definitely planning on a "One of each sculpt" option.  I'm also going to try to make them available at a decent price, but not go broke doing it.  Oh, and what is the sweet spot for customs for my friends in Great Britain?

The Cauldron Born Miniatures website will go back up after the kickstarter.  Right now it's facebook.  I'll try to post more pics here as well.

Thanks guys.

Customs is £15 non-gift.

Does anyone outside of the US carry your stuff, or do you think you could get a shipment to Salute this year?

I wish you luck.

Thanks for the kind words.  Right now I'm waiting on a few more greens, and then a kickstarter in May, hopefully.  One day I hope to make it to Salute.

That latest range of additions looks like a bunch of Hobgoblins that just leveled up in Bad-ass. I like 'em a lot... 8)

Looks awesome! I'm guessing these are heroic 28mm sculpts?

This is the biggest of the Wretches.  Most of them are smaller than this guy, and will look great next to 28mm heroic models, or the sculpts of Red Box, Hasslefree and smaller.  It helps that they are demonic and not human!

Good luck with the range, it has my interest already  :).

I'm working out the kick starter plans and sending them all to the caster.  Would you prefer a kick starter or a good deal from a web store?

Kickstarter gets more awareness of the product I figure, but expectations of stretch goals etc. you could do one without stretch goals and just say, "this is it, no stretch goals" I'd prefer that as it makeseole realise it is less likely to go under.

I am fine with either one.  My preference is some weighted combination of how fast I get them, and how good the deal is.  Kickstarter fees can take a sizeable chunk of your money, but maybe so does Paypal or whoever processes your payments on a webstore.  I have a very low tolerance for KS that expect to deliver in more than six months-so with either option, I hope the delivery is pretty fast.

Actually, now that I think of it, a Kickstarter will probably raise your profile and generate excitement, and if it delivers fast, all of those who are uncomfortable with backing a KS can then just buy them from a webstore a month or two later.

A short duration "production" kickstarter for greens you already have in hand would give the range a higher profile and should be relatively quick to deliver pledges to backers.
That way you build a reputation that opens up the possibility of launching longer duration or more ambitious projects including new sculpts.

I agree that you need to be clear up front about the scope of the thing.

Cheers for the feedback guys.  I haven't decided yet about the kickstarter or just opening shop.  Reaper has another one coming on June 8th.  I don't know if I want to go up against that!

We are a go for some of these greens on Kickstarters.  Ian at Fenris will take care of you people on that side of the Atlantic.

I've backed, but $8.5 USD a pop (shipped) for these small guys (powrie) is pretty steep. Even Tre Manor retails hours human sized stuff for around $8 USD a pop, going down to as low as $6 a piece during Kickstarters.

That being said, they are lovely characterful little sculpts, and I'll be glad to get my hands on them after such a long wait!

The Powrie are bulkier than Tre Manors work, and Paul Muller doesn’t come cheap, but you may be right.  I really pulled to keep the prices down.  The bigger pledges are the better deals on the models.  Thanks for pledging!

You guys are a small operation, and I like the sculpts so I backed!
Good luck with it all! Hopefully others see the charm I do in the sculpts.
