Title: Gas mask spare heads
Post by: Maspalio on March 11, 2015, 08:38:34 AM
Hi post apoc LAFERS

I'm looking for spare heads with gas mask as title says.

Really want to know if there is a place where I can find some which are not "heroic scale"...I mean I want to put them on Wargames factory survivors...and those guys have "little heads" and I don't want them to be too ridiculous with "big heads"

Thanks for your help guys !!!

Off the top of my head the Secrets of the Third Reich ones come to mind (I have a couple of dozen of the things that I've been using).

There's also Maxi Mini and puppetwar. Both of those are "heroic, me no know proportions, scale", but the Maxi Mini ones don't look too bad.

Brother Vinni also does female and armored (Fallout) ones:

The SOTR ones are probably your best bet.

I'm pretty desperate to see some of these as well, particularly some more realistic ones ala the last of us/Dayz etc.

The closest i have found to date are from the Eureka SWAT team, although if you are not in Aus they are a pain to get hold of.

Oh I've seen realistic ones as well, those are just what came to mind immediately. The issue is that they're mostly full models, not loose heads unfortunately. If it is full models that are being looked for I could list a few companies, though the Compiled List of Fallout miniatures thread would be an easier place to look.

Ah, Statuesque Miniatures do some as well, though they are on the smaller end of things. They would do for 25mm, or realistically scaled 28mm (as in smaller heads). If they come out with heroic scale one then they would probably suit as well.

Eureka also has a UK distributor, Fighting 15. I was quoted for my order from them to take two months to come from Australia then via the UK. However it came in a few days at the most, so I suspect the line about Eureka items being made to order may in fact not be taking into account any stock Fighting 15 has.

Oh and I'll be making some DayZ stuff as part of my S.T.A.L.K.E.R. thread, heh, youknow just sayin'. ^^'

I have the WGF kits and some gasmasks from a couple sources- but I've never combined them.

I'll see if I can find the time to do a little match up for comparison purposes.

Hey if its just comparisons then my Fallout and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. threads are full of Wargames Factory models with other manufacturer's heads.

These are WGF (mostly their soldiers, but they use the same armatures for everything) with Secrets of the Third Reich ones :

Thanks Wyrmalla,

I have put off ordering through fighting 15s precisely for their stated shipping estimates. Perhaps i will give them an email now and check their stock levels.

I've been looking at your thread anyway mate, good stuff!  ;)

When you say those examples are generally WGF soldiers do you mean their ww2 range? Ive been trying to kit bash Warlord Bolt Action and WGF bits and whilst some stuff scales nicely other bits just look odd.

Yes the WWII ones. Those in the images are mostly Americans/Germans IIRC. What's wrong with their scaling? Their internally consistent at least I suppose. I was surprised how good WGF was in comparison to Warlord actually. I had expected Warlord's models to be of a decent quality, but the kits I saw were a bit meh actually (their need to use 1/56th vehicles with oddly proportioned soldiers aside). For the price I'd rather go for the WGF ones personally, though as I wind up tearing apart kits and throwing clay every where my opinion's perhaps not the most noteworthy. =P

In regards to the statuesque heads I would say they're too small for WGF bodies. Statuesque models fit their name. Their slight, but tall, so the head are a bit smaller than regular 28mm (they suit the Eureka models I have, but those are closer to 25mm). They're cheap enough to pick up (and I'd have a look at their gun sprues and well the range in general if you are), but I'd point you in the direction of the Secrets of the Third Reich ones (20 for £5 is a decent price, and that's probably more than you'll need. Do they do a variety pack or something? Luckily I picked up most of the range second hand, eugh, just not those long hose ones.

Thanks Wyrmalla. I actually meant that the scale difference between WGF and Warlord are a bit off. WGF seem a bit more slight to me.

I agree with you about Warlord quality though, I thought they would be ideal for kit bashing but was a bit nonplussed when I got them. Still, kits like the Brit commandos have great accessories (back packs and the like).

Anyway, I'll try not to hijack this thread anymore!

Those look great Viruz but from what I can see they are 'heroic' scale. Any idea if that is the case?
