Title: Wargames Illustrated Landsknecht Painting Guide
Post by: Stuart on March 24, 2015, 09:00:11 PM
WI 330 April issue contains a Landknecht Painting guide written by me as well as featuring my collection.

It's almost an article format of my Painting Landsknechts blog so handy to have around if Landsknechts are your thing.

It's a spiffing article Stuart, WI could do with more like it. Having said that it is a good issue all round this month. A further bonus it has a Lion Rampant article by the author for using Italian Condotta forces.

It's a really good issue with a good spread of early renaissance articles which I daresay is hitherto unknown. I know this period is a bit niche so this is definitely an issue to get. Especially with stunningly good looking and modest contributors like me  ;D

Stuart,

A question about Foundry paint system (having never bought their paints). Does it dry matte or satin, and is the pigment to carrier ratio good?

I have several paint ranges that I have finally burnt through in chosen colors that are no longer in production. I need to source a new range of blues, greens and browns.

Cheers,
Fred

Hi Fred

They generally dry Matt though there are some (annoying) exceptions. Overall I'm happy with them and have used them for about 6 years. The range of browns are particularly good and intermix very well.

As for pigment ratio I've no idea, the metallics seperate sometimes and some colours are very thin / watery so there are inconsistencies, I don't know if this is an issue with their range or the batch/pots I bought.

Hope that helps buddy

Looking forward to this issue. Just played a large game last week using the "Impetus" rules set.

My Landesknechts in the center trying to push the Bande Nere out of their hedges. Didn't work in the end. (Opposed river crossings are hard.)
