actually two great painters at work here. :o
I do not think that it is possible to decide it at this point by brushwork only. What did it for me were the ape-models. Maybe the struggle for life or the rage against the machine. One can say it is almost a philosophical match ... hehe
Very very nice. Anything different from a tie is sort of unfair!

Wow. Hard to decide on this one. Both are great. I want all those minis
-
so unfair these are both excellent ,sadly had to choose one .
-
Two fantastic entries. Such a difficult decision.
-
Superb miniatures, Richard, and a brilliant picture and fine example that you don't need elaborate backgrounds ... Which company are the apes from?
I'm very sure that the Cyberdynes are also brilliantly painted, but, unfortunately the miniatures are slightly out of focus ...
-
Thanks Michael. The apes are Steve Saleh's Lucid Eye 'Savage Core' range 'Simians'.
The leader figure - centre - is 'Simian Alpha', the other four armed apes are 'pack 1'.
'Pack 2' has been previewed on Lucid Eye's Facebook page and is due to be released at Salute next week - which I shall definitely be picking up :)
The cheeky chimpanzee on the end of the line is also sculpted by Steve Saleh - from his Tarzan set for North Star.
Lovely work on the Copplestone terminator robots James.
I painted the very same models for one of my entry in one of the earlier LPLs. Yours are way better. Great colour scheme and I love the backdrop.
Once again, I thought this match would be a lot closer than it seems to be :?
-
What makes the LPL votings sometime ridicously and seemingly uneven is that 10000$ plus a cent is still more than 10000$ and if every one agrees on that single cent ... so, a straight yes or no doesn't show the ... ahm ... closeness of two entries. I bet, if we would have complicate 1 to 10 ratings for brushwork, highlighting, sublety and combination of colours each, many matches would have been closer to ties. But then voting would be more difficult in organizing and maybe even calculating the points in the end.
However, to me this is just what I like here cause it boils us down to one single decision all across scale and genre. I can find this only here and in this forum's friendly atmosphere it's fine with me.
best wishes

Love those Chimps :-* The robots look good too but it's hard to see the work, top stuff lads :)
-
A very difficult decision but I'm a sucker for apes.
-
This is really difficult. I need to think more on this o_o
-
Very nice, both. Those chimps are sublime, Richard. Who makes them?
-
Thanks Peder.
The apes are Steve Saleh's Lucid Eye 'Savage Core' range 'Simians'.
Sold through Arcane Scenery & Models.

Hard to believe both entries are'n at least 54mm miniatures. Great paint jobs!
-
Wow, really tough decision.
I have those Copplestone terminators and they're surprisingly hard to paint. Nice job with the green color.
However, the flesh and expressions on the apes is masterful.
