Title: My Post-Apocalyptic Project Updated 20/09
Post by: Ahistorian on April 19, 2015, 04:16:02 PM
The Ahistorical Post Apocalypse begins with a dust up between mercenaries (armed with Sterlings and MRAPs) and Cthuloid Sovietskis. Who will win the battle for the Suitcase of Mystery..?

I will see what I can do. I have a heap of terrain half-built at the moment, along with a gang of scavengers. Hopefully some time after Salute I'll be able to do a roundup.

Next in the Ahistorical Post-Apocalypse, a group of daring British Megapolis Law Officers enter the Bone Counties (previously known as the Home Counties when they were homey) to hunt down a dangerous band of killers.

Will they bring their alien mercenaries with them?

Or maybe the full might of the LAW!!!

Disclaimer: This is not the full might of the Law. The Law also has seven vehicles backing it up, and eventually - helicopters!

That's a lot of judges!  o_o

They look nice though! Nice PJs!

Cheers
Matt.

Thanks! They were super quick to paint, those old Laserburn sculpts have a lot of character.

Also, the Bone County rockfields, with half-done Scavvies for scale:

7 rocky outcrops and twelve big pillars for fighter to weave their way around.

Finally, a chance to play with the rocks and ruffians I've been painting:

Rocks and Ruffians - there's a great name for a post-apocalyptic game!

I've only just discovered this thread. Nice collection of figures and terrain. I like the fantastical, cartoonish, 2000AD-ish take on a post-apocalyptic setting, what with the aliens and the dramatic rock formations and all.

Sounds like a dramatic encounter! I'm very intrigued by this idea of deployment zones being determined by a "scouting duel". It's the kind of rules mechanics I like to see in a game.

It is, isn't it!? Or Texas Rangers vs Apaches! Or Ottomans vs Greek thieves in the mountains! Or Border Reivers!

Damnit, now I want to paint up some of all of those to use with my rocks  lol

Thanks, I can't bring myself to go grim and gritty with it. I did that when I designed my modern rules and it made it all a bit "real". Much better to have dinosaurs and whatnot.

When I have written them out properly, I'll do a breakdown at the start of a battle report.

Thanks! It's a nice diversion from historicals.

Thanks, I can't bring myself to go grim and gritty with it.

And all the better for it! I couldn't either, if I was doing post-apoc. (Haven't caved yet, and the defences might just hold although the sight of fun, fantastical, adventure-filled post-apoc projects like this do assail them viciously.)

No one has sculpted a range of Nausicaa-style post-apocalyptic feudals yet. The defences will hold.

(*Mumbles under breath*: They have to hold...)

Title: Re: My Post-Apocalyptic Project, 20/09 Update - Doc, Cap, The Lady & a Box

The Doctor and his blue box, flanked by a man of action and a woman of words - Captain America and Lady Adana (from a campaign I ran at home).

I am quite proud of Cap's shield, which was handpainted - I think it's literally the best star I've ever drawn.

Doc is a Rebel Minis' Civilian Hunter (pack 2), Lady Adana is a Blue Moon Egyptian Civilian, and Captain America is a Rebel Minis Modern US NCO with a shield made of 1mm plasticard, cut out with a hole punch and gently bent.
