Great excitement in Much-Piddling as the new pub, "The Earl of Snapcase" (courtesy of Chris Abbey at Sally 4th) starts to look like a pub. Unfortunately work must stop now as I'm going down the real pub!

Looks quite inviting. Well done! :D

Liking it very much! :-*
Is that General Melchette on the wall? (Don't know whether the spellings correct there?)

Wow! Wonderful job on the interior!!! Love the posters and pictures. Along with the floor, they really make it leap out and look realistic...

Thanks, a bit more work to do yet. There will be a removable first floor but I haven't ordered it from Chris yet.

It is indeed General Sir Anthony Cecil Hogmanay Melchett, KCB a distant relation of the Earls of Snapcase! (and Mata Hari is there too).

Looks the goods.

Must be a posh place - the sign suggests that the toilets and garden are separate entities.... :D
If Mata Hari is the picture I think it is, the lady appears to have just emerged from her bath and is in danger of contacting a severe chill...
I think it looks great - did you find using the photo-realistic finishing straight-forward?
Doug
-
did you find using the photo-realistic finishing straight-forward?
Yes, very easy to use although I printed it onto A4 sticky labels which meant you could only have one go at applying! A few sphincter-tightening moments! Next time I might use PVA and ordinary paper so you can make final adjustments.
The interior wallpapers and pictures/posters are my design added to Chris's original kit.
the sign suggests that the toilets and garden are separate entities....
When it's finished you will see the outdoor toilets! I haven't made the beer garden yet.

Made a bit more progress today. I have added the porch, the window sills, a sign and some posters.

Martin,
That is truely amazing. It puts my build to shame. I do love the interiors. We are planning to make interior sets in due course with internal walls, staircases etc, so your build will inspire me to put it higher up the to-do list.
I have tried printing on to self adhesive matt photo paper and printing on to normal matt photo paper and applying glue to the wall of the model and found the latter method a lot easier because you could do that final adjustment. I do look forward to seeing it finished and a in use in a game.
Outstanding!

That's very kind of you to say so, Chris. High praise, indeed! The internal staircases will be a very useful addition. I agree with your comments about using glue not sticky paper. The sticky label paper is great for the small posters etc. but you have to be very careful doing the larger pieces, so it's PVA next time!
I'm planning another order with yourself shortly. I want the internal bit for the pub and also I'm very tempted by the corner shop. I think I may be modelling the village of Much-Piddling and there will indeed be a game very soon.
Cheers!

Lovely signage, ol' Snappy! :-* Much-Piddlings is certainly the feline's nightwear.

Thanks, Dave. You will be seeing some Pulp Alley action in Much-Piddling soon, with my Sally 4th warehouse, pub and soon maybe Chris's corner shop as well. Snapcase Hall from an earlier game may have to come out of storage soon as well. Although Much-Piddling is a sleepy little middle-England village at first sight, it is in fact, a hotbed of cult activity, rum smuggling and the epicentre of international espionage (I also expect an outbreak of gratuitous violence when the Much-Piddling Women's Institute annual home-made jam competition occurs at the village hall)! ;)
There's a thought Chris, a village hall?
-
Well, next up will be the Village Church so it would make some sence to have a Village Hall (and maybe a War Memorial) to go in the same area.
-
Excellent, I look forward to that! :-*
-
Lovelly building. :-* :-*
The most important in any decent village. :D
Will you add fortiture inside ?
-
The most important in any decent village.
Absolutely, couldn't agree more, Rui!
Yes, furniture will be added, I think I have a bar somewhere, I'll have to have a look. Beer barrels as well.

Found a bar......

are you still planning on going to Legionary?
Still hoping to, my daughter, son-in-law and grand-daughter arrive on Saturday for a few days holiday but probably later in the afternoon so I might be able to shoot down there in the morning. If I can, I will make a point of coming to say hello!
-
Looking fantastic! :-* :-* :-* Don't hit those kegs with your darts. lol

Wow! What's the bar from!

Don't hit those kegs with your darts.
You're right Dave, I put the bar in the wrong place! Should be on the other wall so the patrons can play darts! Can anyone suggest some interwar figures playing darts or possible conversions?
Wow! What's the bar from!
Fram, my first thought was Frontline Wargaming: http://www.frontlinewargaming.co.uk/ (http://www.frontlinewargaming.co.uk/) but I'm not sure as there's no photo on their site and I'm having a senior moment! Perhaps someone else can clarify?

Thanks, Doug.

Fantastic work. Will enjoy seeing this develop!

If the bar is from the same manufacturer of the barrels its Ral Pharta.
I´ve just bought a set of those barrels from a LAF member.
But do check Thomarillion accessories for a lot of usefull stuff.

Look like different manufacture to me.
Though I didn't even know Ral Partha made any resin terrain!

I managed to get to the Legionary Show at Exeter yesterday. It was a good show and I will post some photos later. It was a real pleasure to meet up with Doug from em4 miniatures (a really spiffing chap) and have a chat. Did I persuade you to start playing Pulp Alley? I’ve had my eye on Doug’s Walled Farm for some time and now Much-Piddling is under construction, I thought a Devon village definitely needs a farm. I didn’t realise quite how big it was and at Doug’s show price this is a real bargain, you get a lot of building for your money. I managed to get it back to the car without dropping any of the boxes!
So it’s unpacking time this morning……

• Sort out some roads
• Get some Sally 4th terraced houses

Heck!! The farm itself its a village of its own. Big structure.
Looking very nice. :-* :-*

Very good to meet up with you too, Sir...!
I intend having a game of Pulp Alley - I've got a table set up and scenario idea in my head. Fortune card deck is printed so there's really no excuse. I intended to have a quick solo run-through today but you know, after doing the show, driving back last night, having far too many glasses of wine and then unloading the car this morning, I'm taking the easy way out and catching up on the forums instead.
I'm glad you're happy with the farm - it's a very useful bit of scenery and, by adding other walls, fences etc, it has almost infinite possible variations of layout. It was funny to see the large ""M" on each of the boxes in yout photo -we'll have to let people puzzle over what on earth they are for.... ;) I took 3 farm sets with me and they all sold so there should be another 2 happy gamers in the Exeter area this morning, gloating over their farms... :D
Once again, good to meet up. Why is it that all the gamers who play games I'd like to try live too far away? Our local club is excellent and we have some damn fine chaps but they do tend to favour 7 Years War with incomprehensible WRG rules rather than skirmish/rpg-lite which I've become more and more attracted to... :(

having far too many glasses of wine
Ah! A man after my own heart! ;)
Glad to hear you are going to give Pulp Alley a go. I am very pleased with the farm, all sorts of scenarios are going through my head. I have been re-reading your blog on Sir Gilbert Hill which I very much enjoy and is actually to blame for me considering starting a VBCW force of my own. I already have the cricket team but not painted yet (looking at the Woodbine Design stuff at the moment). I meant to talk to you about VBCW yesterday and completely forgot, the usual senior moment!
so there should be another 2 happy gamers in the Exeter area this morning, gloating over their farms...
I am sure they will be!

Doug, I'll send you a PM about maybe meeting up for a game later in the year?

pm received and reply sent....great idea...

Who makes a cricket team?
I am planning to make a kit for a cricket pavillion as part of my 1930's photo realistic range, so will need to get a team to paint up for a photo shoot!

These are great figures from Sloppy Jalopy, Chris:

Also, have a look at this post, brilliant conversions.

Well played, old boy! Looking forward to seeing the cricket angle develop. All we need now is some spectators asleep in deckchairs after their lunchtime cider!

Hu Rhu,
Thanks for that, some lovely stuff on your thread. That pavilion looks spot-on! I love the way you made the roller, I definitely have to copy that.
Great project!
Thanks, Argonor.

Looking great.
One of our guys has got that farm from Em4 - isn't a very nice bit of kit. I keep looking at it at shows and persuading myself that I really haven't got any more space to store terrain. I know I'm going to succumb to temptation some day!

Martin - I advise succumbing to the temptation (of course I'm not biased :D ) - stocks are not unlimited and I very much doubt there'll be a second production run. Only three shows left this year that we are booked into so opportunities are limited - go on, spoil yourself.
By the way - I've taken the liberty of inserting a tiny word into your quote (in red). I'm hoping that's what you actually meant.... ;)

Great looking table coming to life!
