Was lucky enough to spot this very exclusive hard-plastic apocalypse biker gang sprue on a random demonstration table at Salute this weekend! More pictures and information on my blog, sprue wasn't intended to be revealed so soon ;)
"From Paul over at Wargames Factory: "Nice scoop on Wargame Terrain's part! I'm not sure if that sprue was meant to be left out or not. Wai Kee was at Salute this week meeting with various companies and I imagine they showed off some samples. I just barely got some samples of that kit myself. We won't be releasing the kit for a while yet. Production of the sprues is just getting started, box art and instructions are pending etc."

Now thats pretty cool.

Are there rider right arms where the hand is gripping the throttle and not holding a weapon?
I really hope so.

Yes there are, you can see them on the sprue.
-
Oh sweet jesus I need these so badly.
I'll take 50
-
Awesome!!! 8)
-
Oh my! These are soooooo nice. :)
-
I was shown the 3D renders on these quite a while back, they're pretty interesting. I was as shocked as anyone to see sprue shots :o
-
Ooh, and likely to be compatible with their regular survivor sprues too. Hmn, now are they all men or are there some women in there too? I'd buy this just on the principle that I like that company's kits ...actually finding a use for bikes beyond terrain may be difficult though.
Then again this would be an ideal opportunity to bring the 80s (or any old raider, NCR Ranger, caravan courier) from Fallout:New Vegas onto tabletop. :)
-
There are a set of heeled leather boots on riders legs, and guy boots.
It also looks like a set of standing female legs at least.
Personally I'd like a little more variation in bike, perhaps a harley chopper, and a cafe racer.. rather than just harley hogs. But that's me, and i'm a picky sod.
Cheers
Matt

Hopefully their extra weapons and equipment sprue will have a bike variation on it (other companies make them, but yes it'd be nice to see everything in the one box). Hmn, I don't see any stands on there either, though those are easy enough to make out of a bit of wire.

Not sure but think there will be three identical sprues. Glad you all enjoyed this lucky preview when I was first taking pictures of a maggotman creature also featured here on Lead Adventure Forum, just saw it laying on the table edge ;) Never though of flipping it though to take pictures of the other side ...
-
Its par the course with that company to release three identical sprues that have all the figures on them, and an extra one with bits to tat them up with. If you're saying that they're just including three sprues that would seem odd, but you already have plenty of bits to play with on those already. It would be disappointing however not to see one. =/
Heh, but yeah tah for that image. :D
-
Putting bases on the sprue when they could have got an extra bike on is silly.
-
Two questions.
When?
How much?
;D
-
Interesting.
I'm not a big fan of multipart plastics, but these will probably come in handy. :)
-
Really great stuff. Looks like there's at least a few sets of extra rider legs per sprue. Just the thing to get some riders on those hot-wheels bikes. I've got quite a few waiting for riders…
Looks like I'll be expanding my biker gang soon!

These will finally be released by Warlord Games as part of their Project Z wargame! More intel on my Wargame News and terrain blog along with preview pictures and reviews of the zombie survivors and zombies. Looks like loads of zombies will be released in 2016, as also Mantic Games will be releasing their The Walking Dead wargame.

Hope they have redone the male zombies, they were terrible.

I think they have designed a brand new box looking at the pictures, not sure though.

This is really good news. I've got a bunch of Hot Wheels bikes that have been waiting for cheap riders for some time. I'll probably use a couple of the plastic bikes in the kit also, but the riders and plastic handlebars are the big attraction of that kit.
I do hope they don't bump up the pricepoint too much from WGF ranges though.
-
They haven't put the prices up in the AWI boxes that have already been released.
-
New male zombies and the bikers would be nice, but what I really want are the plastic modern troops. mmmmm so much could be done with them.

Just noticed that fig, how did I miss that before? If they're compatible with the other survivor ranges, there's going to be a ton of options for post-apoc military and militarized forces.
-
Hmmm these bikers with the Mad Robot SOA conversion bits.... hmmm I feel an idea coming on...
-
$62.50 AUD for the bikers :o

$37.50 AUD for the male survivors, 10 to a box :o

You used to get 30 for that price. Those hoping for a cheap alternative to Mantic's Walking Dead would do well to hunt down the old boxes first...
-
You're right but that's life
Finally, it's cheaper to get the box game (zombies+survivors+bikers), a discounted one if possible...
The Spec ops not the same though
-
You're right but that's life
Not to single you out but that attitude is why these companies keep doing stuff like this.
Buying the tools and getting work done on them or not, tripling the price seems unnecessary. And before anyone jumps in to tell me I don't know the costs or what happened, I'll just say: You're right, I don't. I do know that plastic kits pretty much always make their cost back long term, and that these kits are some of the best on the market so they will have good longevity.
Keeping the price the same and taking one sprue of Survivors out (so, 20 instead of 30) seems like it would have been a good compromise.
As it is, these all were instant buys for me that have turned into buys if I can find a good deal.
Just my 2 cents.
~Eric

Just looked up the USA prices.
Survivors are 10 for $24. IIRC, that's more than double the WGF price!
No listing for the Bikers yet, but I'm waiting in resignation.
I'm with Eric,
I've been looking forward to the bikers for over a year, and if they were at-or-near the WGF pricing scheme I'd be all in. As it is, these just dropped off the "must buy" list and onto the "if they show up on deep discount" list. Also, I've philosophically got less and less interest in supporting a company that seems to be steering itself more and more towards GW-ish-ness.
-
I think I saw the retail price for the bikers was like $35 or $40 US for eight models.
-
I think I saw the retail price for the bikers was like $35 or $40 US for eight models.
If that's just one of the 8 figs and 3 bikes sprue then I'll probably pass.
Also notable is that the zombie survivor figure sets (I'm not sure about the bikers having not seen a review yet) are just not amazing figs. They are serviceable and have alot of great options, but they're just average/middling quality miniatures for which their flexibility and price were the selling points. What are the selling points now that they're almost 3 times the price?
-
I have been following these models since I saw the biker sprues on WGF's forums and find myself in agreement with much of the sentiment expressed regarding pricing. These were very good economy models but not of sufficient quality to justify a substantial price hike. I find it strange because I don't find Warlord prices particularly high in any of their other ranges. If it were them, not Mantic who licensed the Walking Dead IP I'd be more likely to accept it as a cost of doing business but I'm not impressed. In all likeliehood I`m probably foolish enough to give it a go at least to make my TNT Takers a biker gang.
-
@eMills: I go 100% with you there, Eric.
----
No idea what you are talking about with 8 and such.
"This expansion set contains enough parts to make 6 highly detailed plastic gangers including 2 bikes plus this stunning Gang Leader model with pillion rider. It also provides game cards unique to this expansion, so do not miss out of this epic addition."
Speak one and a half sprue.

Originial WGF box was three sprues for 2/3 of the current price aka old WGF box price.
http://wargameterrain.blogspot.de/2015/04/wargames-factory-exclusive-plastic.html
That's a whopping 300% Price increase. Almost same goes for Special Forces. Old plan was 4 Sprues with 4 Torsi. Now One sprue with 8 Torsi. <3
----
They all have their weaknesses. In the End they are all sculpted by the WGF guys. Only the Boss is really new.
The thing is in the big conformist forums they are spoken of as being the real big-time. Most people there don't even seem to know WGF and are used to much higher prices anyway. Guess that's the (new) target group Warlord heads for.
Hype is everything today.
What really pisses me of is the bogus they tell you: "Retooling" (only the bases with the Warlord stamp are actually changed, very important), gaming cards, blahblah" is responsible for that price increase.
And in the same breath they release a three-up of the Boss for 40 quids cast via jnjection mold limited to thirty models. ;D
If a fanboy tells me one more time something about high costs for plastics...
You can't tell me they fabricate a form for 10000 with a total revenue of 1200 (30*40), cost of the small boss not even substracted.
And the worst I#s f*cking collectible now.
Sorry for the rant.
-
Only the Boss is really new.
I've had the biker leader sprue in my hands for several months, he was tooled at the same time as the Bikers, Modern Soldiers, Artillery, and Hessians.
-
Interesting to know about the leader biker sprue. Anyone have a shot of it?
I guess that ups the value a bit, but I'm not seeing it. A $25 or $30 box with 6-7 bikers was something special. $35-40 (guessing on the price here...) for 3 bikes is just ok, and not something I'll probably be doing Looks like it's time to find some more old Ork and catachan bits and get back to kitbashing.

The plot thickens....
North Star has the bikers for 15 GBP
http://northstarfigures.com/prod.php?prod=8290
Not sure where War and Peace are getting their pricing from then, their price is more than double even accounting for exchange rates
-
Boxes are going for about 28.99 over here
-
I knew I should have loaded up on those Survivors sets.

They are pretty good. Be nice if they did foot versions of them.
The plastic Warlord ones are definitel meant to be £25 retail.
-
I've had the original WGF survivors for years and I have to admit was never a huge fan of them, really useful for parts alone but the ultra-realistic proportions left them scaling pretty badly against a fair amount of other minis I had and the construction options, for a multi part plastic set, were fairly limited. A lot less incentive to buy anymore with the new price tag, although they were highly detailed and if the style suits you then they're very decent minis
Thanks
Blofeld
-
Thanks folks. The bikes are great, the trick is finding riders for them. Maybe it'd be worthwhile to buy the west winde guys since all their bikes look alike.
For folks looking for foot versions of the west wind guys there's probably alot of possibilities in the EM4 and Copplestone lines.
Thanks Doc.
Looks nice. Makes me even more disappointed for the new pricing.

-
Really a pity, if the biker box would have the same cost as the other boxes probably I would have bought one or two. Even if the new warlord prices are awfull comparing with old WGF ones.
But almos doubling the cost for the bikers is plain and simple insulting.
Good luck warlord...

Makes me glad I went ahead and bought White-Ops from Hasslefree for my Brother of Steel Knights in Combat Armor. ;D I had thought of holding off for the Spec-Ops but at those prices, there's zero incentive not to spend slightly more for the equivalent number of figures from much higher quality metal manufacturers like the aforementioned Hasslefree or Empress (whose modern US are gorgeous and were also in the running for representing the BOS Knights... :) ).

Those white ops are stellar! They strike a perfect balance between modern and a couple years down the road.
