They look brilliant :D My favourite is the Implausable!!
You might want to look at editing those links, though!
-
I have to say the implauseable is my fav by far.
Its my first time doing this, Im kinda....confused by all the...computering....
Im sure I'll work out how to do it at some point :)
-
The Implausable is definitely the belle of the ball, though the Lenton is a truely monstrous site and very fear-inspiring.
-
Thank you for your kind comments Mr.H.Claw.
Does anyone want my outher bits of LI stuff posed up? Because I think I can now.
Also, how do I resise the pics so they fit in the window better?
Regards
Mr.Marx
-
Yes please :D
You can use the width command inside the [ img ] tag to make the photo smaller. The number is the number of pixels wide you want the picture - you have been using 1024. I made this picture 256 wide. You could use height instead, if you want - or both commands - but you don't need to do so. Quote this message to see what I've done with your image tag.
Oh, and you don't need the leading http : // - you only need the internet address to the picture inside the [ img ] [ / img ] tags.

I didn't know you had a steam monoplane, awesome.
However, it would seem my two airships are already obsolete...
I've recently built four Landships of my own, but I fear I'll need more than that for our next game.
I did tell him how to resize pictures, but evidently he didn't listen...
-
Please do post more. Depending on the site you use for hosting your images, you may have the option of resizing them there. I hope to be posting my completed landships and steam soldiers soon.
Keep 'em coming!!!
-
OK, Ive sorted out my size issues.
Heres a few morn nuggets of Landship for you to tide you over untill I do anouther photo-shoot (I'll do it tomorrow)

wow! kewl!
where do you find these miniatures? who sells them?

You have some wonderful models there, Mr Marx!
I particularly like "Das Foot-Boot" [nice word-play, BTW lol].
I am planning a couple of armies and using converted ACW Ironclads is well within my budget and limited modelling skills ;)

That is the wonderful part of Land Ironclads. I have not paid a single new cent for the forces I have assembled so far. four ironclads so far, a bunch of steam soldier contraptions, and I even had a couple companies of 2mm infantry laying around already. And this is before even trying to find stuff to convert.
Gotta love it,

The half inch of spru is from GW, so must cost at least a penny.
The flock, well, thats a penny too.
And a 2p coin.
1p+1p+2p = 4p

'Land Ironclads' by Wessex games. I bought them from here:
http://www.brigademodels.co.uk/Frames/VLI/index.html
A really good, fast and easy to understand set of rules, highly recommended.
-
Ta :) I think I might have to have a bit of a look to see if I can pick this up after Christmas and the New Year. :D
-
Thanks Mr. Keeper.
I must say that I am at a dead end for ideas at the moment though, I cant think of anything I dont have, and looking accross the landscape of my desk, I cant see anything that looks like a LandIronclad.
I think perhaps next I will buy some small Dinos from the £1 shop in my town, and just see what happens.
All the best

AH, there you are right, those ships are out of a bord game that was some kind of fake version of Risk.

Verrrry interesting!
I was interested in getting this game when it came out (Salute last year) and I still am, but Panzerfauste kinda got in the way... Again... Seems to be a running theme!
I'll see what I can do AT Salute, hopefully it won't sell out again when I get round to going to the Brigade Models store...
Or if I don;t spend all my money at the Alternative Armies stand.
Oh dear... :(
Your conversions are excellent, truly inspired. Seems quite easy to make stuff for it. Also, 2mm, cheap! Excellent. No complaints there then! :)

I really, really woudent worry about the monitary side of things. I love Brigades' Land'clad models, but personaly I find the most fun thing about this game the scratch building. Its just so darn easy at this scale.
Mr.Marx
-
haha.
yes your scratch builds certainly are inspiring, but I lack the materials for such things.
Perhaps I could do the helmet ones and the drills, or some stuff similar to thos,e but I have no ships at all!
But yes, 2mm is an excellent scale to work with. I'm thinking of doing an Olympian army as they seem to be the least popular... :D

90mm tall?
Thats huge for 2mm!
Cool! :D
Will that work for Land Ironclads?

The 90mm one is too tall, but the 50mm one fits perfectly. See this earlier battle report of ours;

Might have to pick up some at Salute then! :)

So, my friend has bought a whole load of Land Ironclads stuff (at Salute of course), and after getting 2 rulebooks...
I have one!
So I shall be getting started at some point (probably helmet tanks and stuff like that that I can do) and he most certainly will be.
I have been following this thread and really enjoying it. Shame that Steve himself doesn't post here.
Would love to be updated... :)

Post Salute Update
Hello everyone. I have fantasticly gone under the top at Salute and bought myself 5 ironclads from Brigade. These will the the first perpose made ironclads I have bought, so I am not happy about it, but still, they are very nice.
New things;
Firstly a new german landbattleship (Brigade)
with a extra gun added to the back...
A few new large contraption walkers (GZG)
After two hours of serching at salute, I found the perfect tree slock foam stuff for 2mm trees, and attached it to a friend's airships
(http://i410.photobucket.com/albums/pp186/Mr-Marx/DSCF1292.jpg)
And. Just for fun, my current to-do pile

Ok, Little Update
Here is my new German Battleclad done appart from the base, took 2 hours.
I only just noticed that its the first of my Germans' that I have taken any real time in painting, rather than just geting them done. Deppressingly, I looked accross all of my ironclads, and Ive noticed that thay are all rather, erm, iffi......I from now on will try to make them abit better, and will paint them so they look a little nicer.
Anyway, here we go.
And the reason I got this model, the 7 Turrets!
When you have 5 12''s, and 4 5.5'' QFGs, no one is going to take you lightly.
Also, just for the sake of deppression, here is my German Horde, all together.
It is 2mm after all, perhaps it looks better at a distance....
Thanks All
Mr.Marx
-
Mate, don't fret.
It's all VERY impressive.
Mr Blease and Mr Hartley would be INCREDIBLY impressed.
Someday, I hope to sport a collection of LI, like yours, but alas that day shall not be soon.
The main thing really is to get them painted and then take them to shows, and do some demos! So I can see them in person! :D
Also, I wouldn't say you buying stuff from Brigade is cheating... It's just liek buying from Irregular or GZG... Plus, supporting brigade, supports Wessex, which supports future games such as Aquanef, Astranef and Aeronef II... Oh and not forgetting Panzerfauste Legion, the best game ever written by men... :)

Thank you for the kind words. I dont know if I agree with them though. you must addmit that the spare turrets for lee tanks in 15mm, with a added naval turret, then painted grey, without any running gear, make passable ironclads?
I do like Brigade, they are rather fantastic. I do wish they'd do components like bridges for ships though. Ho-hum.
I do see that you are from the eastern side of England. Im hopeing to do a degree in Kent starting in the summer, so you never know ;)

Got this one at salute from brigade. Its a lovely model and rather easy to put together. I painted it without an undercoat :o (first time I have done anything this way in 5 years), just because it was nasty outside and it was all flat areas, so it turned out ok. Ive given it a good coat of not too shiny varnish that should stop it being chipped to death. Hope you like it.
Mr.Marx
-
No undercoat?
You're a bad man.

I am positively diabolical ;D
I painted it blue...that was an undercoat....you cant see any of the origianal blue, and it was really...erm....stodgy? You know, that old paint you have that is now a solid by agreement of all leading modern sciences? Yeah, I used some of that.

I always use an undercoat, myself, but you could use custard and soy sauce for all I care, if they come out looking good when you're done.
And HMLS Fearless does look good :)

That's a fair enough statement to make.
I guess it was my harsh upbringing. Undercoat this, Undercoat that...
lol
Looks really good though, even if you did use 'stodgy' (nice word) paint.

These I did Undercoat

I thought I was the only one who knew about the custart and soy sauce method. Well, there goes another trade secret.
:D

Those are awesome.
No wI'm jealous.
A few members of my local club are properly getting into it now. My only reason for not doing it is that I didn't think it would catch on locally...
DAMN!
Ahh well, I'll buy some H.G.Wells, get inspired first and then start rummaging for things I can use... :)
-
Rob,
Take a little trip through your bits box, you never know what Ironclads you have laying about. You may find that you are able to assemble a good force of kitbashes and scratchbuilds that will let you jump in.
-Eli
-
Will do...
I do have a rather large bits box... I'll rummage through the plastic one, see what I can find and then rummage through the metal one (quite a scary one as I dropped a box of ballast into it...).
-
Good deal,
I built some LI out of some spare 15mm gun carriages I had laying about and even cobbled together a couple out of old classic Battletech tanks.
-Eli
-
Yay! Go Land Ironclads. Its good to know at least someone else on the face of the planet plays this game.
I find that a good dug though the bits box, (or far more interestingly, a friends) will find you more than enough stuff to cobble together a few Landclads. I do recomend some turrets from brigade models though. I hate making turrets myself...most of the time.
If anyone can though up ideas on how to make decent looking running grear/rolling stock, Id appreciate it, Im at a loose end at the moment to how Ironclads should be propelled....as I find that catipillar tracks are just too '20th centuary'.
Anyway, good luck all

I know for me, I've been looking at a lot of the wheels used on artillery pieces, especially the cleated wheels. Yoou probably remember my LI made from the 15mm gun carriages. I'd like to get some WW1 gun carriages with the cleated wheels to use for heavier wheeled LI.

Haha, join the Wessex Games VSF Yahoo group, I think you'll find you're not alone...
I am, however, one of 3 (A WHOLE 3!!!) Panzerfauste gamers that will happily QUOTE that they are!
A great shame as it is a great game and background. :'(

Not alone in what? I'm on that group but don't recall any traffic in regard to cleated wheels.
And you are right, it des trully suck when a good game doesn't get the love it deserves.

I get more posts coming itno my mail from the VSF group than the fantasy group...
It sucks a lot. Wessex Games have a whole series of great games that are just not known about in the wargaming community really. :(

Now, I have spent today looking threw all of my bits boxes, bags and outher cubby holes, and I have come to the conclusion that I am out of anything else that can be turned into a LandIronclad. :'(
