Very nice. Any chance of sharing your recipe for hippo skin?

It's a simple recipe Folnjr. I used the Quagmire (63) triad by Wargames Foundry and then gave them a wash with thinned down (about 50/50) Strong tone ink by Army painter.

Great but for waterline it could more cheap to take toys animal.
Some are very useful for this purpose.

Thanks. Simple is good. I haven't been able to get mine looking right but yours do.

Very Nice work. I made up a couple from toy hippos which work well. Not sure if I have a pic of them anyware though.

Since Teld can’t find pictures of his toy hippos, I’ll offer a couple that I did with toys I found at the swap meet. All of the toy hippos I found were standing but could be easily cut and set in a Milliput base as a water surround. They aren’t up to the standards of Wargames Foundry (the company whose figures got me interested in doing Darkest Africa – wonderful stuff) but they look pretty good and were a fun project.
