I'm hearing you, I have painted the black watch 3 times in 2 scales over the past month, and I still have another to go, sigh, good job on these guys Paul.

Love Airfix Napoleonic figures, rebased and varnished a pile of 'em I've had for 45 years, to play one hour wargames.

I like the conversions..especially the old guard artillery, very inventive. How are the head swops done..with Pins or glue?

Got to bear in mind the figures were painted like, a week after Airfix issued each new set, using a Funcken reference book nicked from the School library! We'd hadn't a clue about metal figures back then, and couldn't have afforded 'em if we had. Hats were surgically removed and replaced as required and stuck with Airfix glue, no pinning... the battlefields looked very realistic as there were hats, backpacks, arms, legs and other assorted bits strewn about, as our conversions fell to bits! The idea I had of attaching plumes made from rolled snippets of bog roll glued to the hats of marching French Infantrymen was one of the biggest disasters of all... happy days.

Happy days indeed!! :) No-one cared that much wether the uniforms were that accurately painted or if they were gloss or matt. The gaming was what counted :)
Realistic basing!!!? Rows of figs stuck to Strips of kellogs boxes and then a liberal layer of emerald green slapped on. Great fun.
I aso "liberated " a funken reference book from the local lending library lol
The old Airfix glue..in those roll up tubes, a Little bit too much pressure and splurt!!!
I stuck the heads on with Pins, I seem to remember it was suggested in an Airfix Magazine..a couple of 35 plus year old conversion examples, Bavarian and Nassau Grenadiers...(I think ..or at least thatīs what my ancient rules book tells me they were supposed to have been..or are.)
