Waiting for Malamute's British flyer lol

I am also try to find some A/A gun suitable to be presented alongwith my VSF army.
I am trying to get a gun with peculiar appearance, more VSF, I am thinking to use twin or quad pom-poms. What do you think?

A bit of history .... Pom-poms and similar concepts like the Hotchkiss revolver cannon originated as a result of the introduction of torpedo boats. Small guns capable of putting out a lot of firepower were seen as the best way of deterring the fast torpedo boats from getting close to battleships. With the introduction of aircraft the pom-pom was found to be a good means of defence against these too - hence the use of twin and quad weapons of this type in the first haldf of the 20th century.
Single-mounted pom-poms and revolver cannon on ships' mounts are available from London Warroom. I don't know anyone who makes twin or quad versions in 28mm. Alternatively look at manufacturers of WW2 equipment - the quad Maxim used by the Soviets could be perfect ....

Thanks Bullshot.
Another source could be ship's fittings.

Very nice. An excellent scratchbuild of a BAK*! 8) 8) 8)
Good to take a German 1906/1909 concept into VSF. A brilliant idea! One suggestion for an otherwise great vehicle: You'll need a little fence (made of some wire...) for the BAK crew. Otherwise they might be roasted at the boiler due to the bumpy ride. lol ;)
I should get me some of those VSF vehicles, too.

Waiting for Malamute's British flyer lol
Its on its way ;)
Very nicely done. I like the crew figures :)

I hope Malamute's flyer is well armoured! Prussia definitely has an advantage in the arms race with this. I like your use of WW1 figures repainted to a more VSF looking uniform.
Not knowing too much about WW1, I assume there are differences between them and late 19thC, but not too glaring? I assume the weapons would be different, but again WW1 would not be too different in looks from 19thC?
Would 1914 German infantry, Uhlans etc do as 1890s equivalents? There are a lot of very nice early WW1 figures, which I'm tempted to use for my VSF gaming.
-
Those Prussians have far too much armour. I expect they are all getting fat and lazy riding around in those contraptions. Not like the good 'ol Tommy slogging it away on foot. Hurrah!
Nice conversion!

Nice work Bullshot. 8)
It is, of course, doomed to failure against the forces of Her Majesty (Gawd bless 'Er) :D

Gluteus, am I understanding you correctly? In games with flyers and land ironclads you're worrying about uniform details? :)
The rifle the Germans used in the Great War was the Gewehr 98, so called because it came out in 1898. So just sneaks into the Victorian period. Before that they were using a different model of Mauser which looked a bit different but not so much as to worry about.
The German army switched to field grey in 1910, but the actual style of the uniform wasn't really very different to what came before other than the colour. Most of the Germans I've seen in VSF lately have been Renegade WWI figures with paint conversions. The Pickelhaube cover that really makes a figure look like it comes from the Great War was actually introduced in 1892, so isn't out of place in a late Victorian era game.

Excellent stuff, More of it I say :-*

lol Yes, I am a sad git :(
I'm not really too worried about minor details - as you say it is VSF, after all - I just like to have things look "right".
Thanks for the uniform help, I'll now be happy to paint 1914 Germans as 1890's Prussians!

Gluteus Old Boy if you are looking for an alternative Prussian army look at the Helion figures from the 1866 campaign. They are fairly new releases and very nice they are too.

Ah yes, those are lovely. They are very reasonably priced, too :)
Having made a conscious decision to stop being sad and pedantic, I'll ignore the rifles as the differences probably aren't important anyway The only thing I can't see that would be necessary are artillerymen, but Bullshott's Irregular Minis look the part.
I seem to recognize those Helion figures from some splendid game and LPL photos posted a while ago and really should have remembered them ...... ;)

Yes they are nice figures. I have some few samples of them and they are really nice, although a little slim compared to the renegade etc.
Sorry, I have no pics, but if you want I will check them against my other Prussians and will tell you.

Great stuff Sir H! I'm wondering what you've done with the turret.
-
I love it! Quick question though; how do the crew get up/down from the roof? Is there a hatch we can't see, or is it a step-ladder job?
Looking forward to more.

If you look closely at the pics you will see a hatch two hatches on the roof - one above each door (made with plasticard and plastic rod).

Great conversion. And nice to see Irregular Miniatures being used, they have a lot of useful stuff. 8)

Excellent. Great to see so many credible contraptions coming out of the VSF stable.
