Title: Afrikakorps Paint Scheme Test
Post by: Suetonius Paullinus on May 21, 2015, 04:58:39 PM
Hi

I am planning a Bolt Action DAK force later this year (when I've got more Panzer IIIs..) but obviously I will need some infantry as well.
Although I like the Perry version I quite fancy converting existing Bolt Action Germans into Afrikakorps.
Here my first figure to test the colour scheme:

Your thoughts?

Cheers

Looks good Sp. Maybe the cap could be a touch lighter? They were often very faded, so much so that new recruits often bleached theirs, I have read, to achieve the look.

Thanks for your comments gents!

@westwaller

Yeah, I've read this too. I've converted an NCO and he certainly will get a lighter version  8)

Looks great!  Best advice I got from a board member was to vary the fading from soldier to soldier.  I too would go a hair lighter on most but some of the uniforms were newer so this'll work several of the minis!

That's what I thought as well.
Randomly mixing old and new i.e. lighter and darker shades for trousers, tunics and hats.

What's your colour of choice for vehicles (I've got a Pz IV as a tester here)?
