Title: True Grit - UPDATED - September 2017 New posse
Post by: Vindice on May 30, 2015, 12:19:40 PM
Howdy, pardners. I've been working through the lead pile and came across some Artizan varmints which has kick started my love of all things western:

There's a couple of more shots on my blog - http://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2015/05/true-grit.html - but I'll add to this thread as I finish off more.

Thanks chaps. Working on a few more - the biggest shock is how rarely Wild Bill in Deadwood wears dark colours. Lots of greens and browns. I am massively impressed with the Artizan sculpts. I'm going to have to treat myself to some more.

I've bought myself some rules and spent a bit of time with my friendly local laser cutter to produce this:

Howdy. The latest cowpoke to mosey into town is an ill lookin' hombre packing a shotgun and a deck of cards:

Nice work. The Artizan figures are great, I've got those guys undercoated and in the painting queue now. I'm just painting some Artizan Pinkertons. Is the Rooster Cogburn from Crusader?

I've had a game of Fistful of Lead and it was great fun. It's fast and easy to pick up.

I swear, I though ole Rooster was from Artizan as well. Now you've said that, I dunno where he came from...!

Yup, that's the man with grit. I'm currently working on the mounted one as a 75th birthday present for my Mam as it's her favourite film.

What kind of lowdown two-bit sidewinder robs a bunch of cacti at gunpoint?

Especially since they've got their hands up!

Thankfully, innocent young cacti are safe from marauding bandits as the bandits are too busy building a townstead...

My first experience of Sarissa; I have to say, for the price they're lovely. Some more details on the blog as always. (http://critfailure.blogspot.co.uk/2016/03/mosey-into-town.html)
Title: Re: True Grit - updated with the Earps
Post by: Elbows on March 11, 2016, 10:03:39 PM
Sarissa are very nice.  They're a bit simple compared to some other kits, but they're also the only kits where you can assembled an entire town in...20 minutes?  My entire first town was Sarissa - simple, effective and lovely.  You will want to add some additional doors to some of them as they never had rear-doors when I was buying them.

Love your work on the Earps.
Title: Re: True Grit - updated with the Earps
Post by: Vindice on March 11, 2016, 10:12:15 PM
Thanks. The Sarissas are very nice for the price. They have come with back doors so they must have changed the pattern since your last purchase.

Post by: Elbows on March 11, 2016, 10:25:38 PM
Ah, cool.  Yeah when I had them there was a "pitched roof" expansion but only that came with rear doors on most of the basic buildings.  That's cool.  I had glued a bunch of spare doors to mine!  lol

Al Swearingen has fallen foul of the law in the little town of Ratwater. The Marshall has locked him up wait the pleasure of Hizzonner Judge Roy Bean. But Al is not without friends, up in Dakota. And they’re comin’ to bust him out…

Oh, and after reading said report, you were suspicious the author (me) was a Damnyankee. That could not be further from the truth. Being a direct descendant of one of Quantrill's Raiders, the only thing worse you could have called me was a Jayhawk.

I meant it more in the sense of 'revolutionary colonist' than north v south :-)

Just had our first go with the new posse creation rules from Reloaded. Looking good so far :-)
