Title: Schrumpfkopf's army project - Update - more progress on the board
Post by: Schrumpfkopf on June 01, 2015, 04:12:35 PM
I am currently developing an army of Halflings to sell via Westfalia. I however realized that I am lacking a second army to face them so I started putting together a force of Gobbos and their friends.

First a nice old troll! I already bought 2 more on Ebay for £20 which I think is sti somewhat reasonable a price.

I then was browsing Ebay for Nighgobbos since I have a fair few old command figures and finally came across a set from the 2010 edition. Lovely sculpts and only £8 for a sealed box.

Next I'll paint the 2 new trolls and then I see what ebay will dump on me.

really it's good fun. :--)

I finally got around to paint the 2 others trolls I've sourced. I painted one blue because I ended up with 3 different bodies but only 2 different heads.

Blue Troll

Yellow Troll

I also made a proper base for the 3

And this is wha tthe gang looks like

Next thing in the queue are some Squigs and Nightgobbo herders.

As a Goblin Guy, I think your creations of various sizes & shades are FANTASTICALLY WELL DONE!
You just need some mushrooms to add that final touch.

I just have to join the club of supporters!
The halflings look stunning, especially the Westphalia types.
and the Ogre has a special feeling abaout him: He looks bestial, fierce and not really clever without the over abundance of fangs and belly of the "new" GW stuff. I especially like the cheek beard which reminds me of a victoran age fist fighter. That's the idea of an ogre.

I will follow this tread!

Cheers
GS

My aim is to have 20 figures for each of the different unit types plus all the chaacter models painted. that's a total of about 150 figs and I have now 30... So I guess 2-3 layer TTstadard it has to be, I am quite happy with the results anyway.

The colors you chose suggest that the Girl is a no nonsense sort. The brushwork & base are OUTSTANDING. The mini would fit in with a Mordheim War Band WONDERFULLY VERY NICELY DONE!

Empire sell sword - lovely sculpt - bit of an awkward lean here!

Apparently looking like you are either about to fall over backwards or are experiencing a severe back cramp is actually a fashion statement.

How many poses/sculpts are there for every weapon type? And will you consider adding a "one of each sculpt" for the collectors/painters/warband builders among us?

no worries - everything is still very 'work in progress' at this point.

There will be 6 different models for each infantry formation. 2 command sets with each 3 minis. several champions with interchangable weapons, 3 goat knights, 1 goat champion, 1 army general on war goat, the paymaster, a mage and his Acolyte and and and.

I like your idea with the 1 of everything. I'll add that sometime soon.  :)

Regarding the "Patrol" pledge, if one was to pick a Goat Knight unit, would the Unit Champion also be a goat rider?

Regardless, it's a very enticing Kickstarter.

Yes, the full unit would have 5 models incl. The Champion. I might need to change that to make it a bit clearer!

Still lots of work ahead. :--)

Hi,

since the units are 9 strong, any thought for chance to purchase extra members to each unit, e.g.. for games such as up-coming Dragon Rampant (which does seem to have a possibility of reduced number of models per unit in comparison with 12 and 6 of Lion Rampant)?

The pledge levels do look nice nevertheless.

Hi,

The pledge levels include enough suitable champions and command sets to generate units that are 10 and 20 strong.
That, and there will be a list of add on's that allow to purchase single miniatures and small sets to build units in exactly the way you like them.
