Hi folks. A few things have urged me to pursue this latest project of mine: The new Mad Max film, which I finally got around to seeing last week; the brilliant projects many of you have started and shared yourselves on this very forum; and having little money to buy expensive hobby things at the moment. So armed with £10 and a trip to Poundland and Wilko I picked up a bunch of Hot Wheels to get me started.

Not having any cash to buy the fancy embossed plasticard that I'd like to use, I rooted around in my bits box for stuff to turn a car into something from the post-apocalyptic wasteland. Thankfully I found lots of 1/72 tank bits I kept hold of, shop loyalty card for armour plating and some plastic rod. The first car I started work on was the '67 Custom Mustang and made it a Very Custom '67 Mustang which I have named "Sally" (cue groans lol)

A very quick paint job (quick for me), started last night and finished this morning.

Very nice weathering. Looks great.

Great work! Another reason I love this scale is how cheaply you can have your fun!

Fantastic painting and conversion. The other cars you got all look like good choices for Mad Max-ifying too.

Excellent work... I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with the rod and the pickups. Bear in mind Curtis of Ramshackle games is working on some 20mm crew. 8)

Thanks chaps.

Thanks. I look forward to seeing the crew from Ramshackle (I'll be getting the bikers too). I'll hold fire on a few of my vehicles that need drivers and the like so I can add the crew. I shall be in touch soon for some of your excellent wheels as I feel my 52 Chevy pickup needs much bigger tyres.

I've held back on painting until I've got crews, but at the rate folk are giving diecast that's not a bad thing. My grandson gave me about 20 today, picked from ones he didn't want and suitable for mad maxing out, bless him.

Fantastic quick 'n' dirty conversion! necessity being the mother of invention, you've done a fantastic job - very inspiring!

great job. I'm in a similar situation looking to start up some pa/mad max inspired car action. what rules will you be using?

Thanks. Not sure what rules yet. Maybe the ones from the latest Wargames Illustrated, gonna take a look at Dark Future as well. I may end up making my own up. Want to keep it relatively simple and fast flowing. I look forward to seeing the start of your own project.
