Dear readers,
another year, another LPL, and now that all's been said and done, it has been a blast.
This year, I was given the honour of announcing the winners, since our esteemed Captain Blood who did such a fine job of running this whole shebang is currently sailing south to harrow some Spanish shoreline, I've been told. ;)
Nonetheless, it has been a rather productive league this year, with lots of new and interesting entries, and a huge number of quality pieces ranging from amazing to "more jaw-dropping-related injuries caused than the young Caroline Munro".
Obviously, our thanks go out to all the members who joined up and submitted themselves to this challenging task, but obviously, you will all want to know who came in on top.
At the head of the pack, in first place - the admirable Admiral Benbow! Not only did he provide us with ten different entries, each was more beautifully staged and photographed than the previous one, which won him a well-deserved perfect run of ten victories.

Hard on his heels, in second place - the cunning Captain Blood! As usual, he provided a beautiful selection of interesting, unusual, and all-new teams, painted to his well-known high standard.

And in third place, the dazzling Dr. Mathias. Again, a varied selection of all-new teams which combined great painting, fine terrain-making skills and interesting themes which set him up for the Bronze rank.

So, what remains? Again, we wish to thank all the participants as well as the voters who engaged to make this a memorable LPL season.
Furthermore, I am happy to announce that we will be holding another LPL next year - what's more, it will be the tenth season, and for this happy anniversary we are looking forward to a great challenge for all involved.

Conga Rats to the winners and hats off to all participants. An excellent showing all around. Thank you for the inspiration.
-
Congratulations, Admiral, and all the rest! Thanks to everyone who helped run it again, this year. And most of all, thanks to all the entrants, for churning out gorgeous eye candy for the rest of us to vote on, week in, and week out!

Congrats, Michael, Richard and Matt, wel done, guys! Thanks to all participants, an amazing show, I rather enjoyed it.
-
Congratulations to everyone who took part this year, but special congratulations to the winners.
Well done!
-
I'll join the conga rats! (like the phrase ^^)
Respect to the tops: Mathias, Blood and the "topest" > Admiral!
As said before, I like to be part of it again. Walking beneath giants, somewhat. :-*
Btw ... the winner is an Admiral, second a Captain, third a Doctor (I suppose a field-surgeon). I'd rather think someone does a little too much of military-gaming, huh? ;D :D
best wishes to all, especially to the Captain, as well, for organizing - and the Prof for calculating (it HAD to be a prof?)

Well done all, some great painting and photography this season.
-
Congratulations to the Winners, and thanks to all involved, had a blast participating in my first LPL, didn't do as good as I had hoped, had some stiff competition in a few rounds, but I think I managed to paint more minis in the last few weeks than I did all of last year, so it still feels like a win to me :D
looking forward to joining again next year, although I need to prepare better next time and learn how to take better pics, and I think I need a promotion if I want to be a contender :D
-
Congratulations to all participants: this is always a fun contest, as well as one that shows off some great painting.
-
Congrats to all partipiciants! Especially to the troika on the winner’s podium.
Overall, LPL really is a Champion’s league. First class paint jobs and settings in every round. Every entry was inspiring. Just watching them made my (sun-)day for 10 weeks now.
Many thanks to all artists and the LPL-team!
BTW: my personal painting ranking is ‘grunt aspirant’ rather than sarge. So no danger for the top brass & academic masterminds. At least until LPL 25…
-
Standing claps for the winners and those taking the time/energy to organise/participate in such a treat for our eyes !
-
Just want to add my congrats to not only the winners but all that participated.
I am just working on my painting skills and to see so many new sets of figures each week was truly wonderful. Great inspiration.
Also learned a few things. I see that not only were the winners great painters but also great photographers. In focus, close enough to see the details and interesting backgrounds that did not distract from the figures being judged.
I also don't game, mainly build for dioramas with my models or individual displays. But I did get so many ideas from here maybe next year I might take a stab at this.

Well done Admiral, Captain and Doctor..........and Darth (is Darth an occupational rank?)
Top splodgers and ace shutterbugs :)
-
Nice one fellas :D
A well deserved win Michael 8)
A big thanks to the organisers, a tireless job but a worthwhile one :)
cheers
James
-
Congrats Richard and Matt! Michael: endlich mal n Schalker woll? :D
-
A huge well done to all who took part and a large dose of congratulations to the Admiral, the Captain and the Dr.
-
Congrats to the participants, Captain Blood, and the Admiral. Thanks to the organizers, especially those who also participated :)
Competitive crop of entries this year, lots of tough choices. I'll have to go back through and see what the overall trends were. Less Cthulhu-esque stuff in general?
-
Good Show Everybody! As for trends, Cave People, and early 20th century Pulp seemed to pop a lot this year.
-
Blimey, made it ultimately to the top ten after being administered a few good clobberings in the beginning. :o It's a damn tight race there too - five guys within three points.
One of the fascinating things about LPL is that even after several years of participation and/or watching, I still come across completely unexpected subject matters. Almost every subforum tends to get at least some representation here. That always manages to inspire.
Special achievement awards go to:
- Lt. Hazel and Bugsda for scoring top-ten-worthy amounts of wins despite being incapacitated for several rounds.
- Bibbles for third highest vote points. You should consider the bonus themes too. ;)
- Thargor, Nord and Curt for their equal win-loss ratio and exactly 50 vote points, only getting separated by bonus points.
- 16 painters scoring full bonus points by jumping through every possible theme and new team hoop.
But don't worry too much about the results. To me, this is pretty much the only reason to participate (well, maybe also providing free entertainment and learning something new every time):

Then a moment of silence in memory of those who gave everything. :'(

And then back to those conga rats. :) Something special for the anniversary year? Ten figure teams? lol
-
Another wonderful splurge of top quality eye-candy offered up by all.
Great to ogle from the sidelines.
;D ;D
Well done all!
:D
-
Well done everyone!
A special hat tip to the Admiral. That was some seriously awesome painting, terrain and photos!
-
Congratulations to the winner, placers, and all who took part. It was an excellent LPL and I looked forward to it every week!
-
Congratulations to the winners and all that participated this year!

Congrats guys, thanks for putting in the effort and bringing it together. It was a great show!
Sad that it's already over :/
Thanks

-
Congratulations to especially the top three, but also the rest of you who participated, making it again a memorable run for me.
Many thanks also to the Prof and the Captain for running the show.
I'll have a bit of rest now, but hope to be back again next year for the 10 year anniversary :)
-
Conga rats to all, especially the top three, and many thanks to all involved in the organization especially the good Captain. Dolmot, I like that group photo - both actually. Wish I'd kept the casualties for a pic like that too, although in my case a pile of empty Guinness tins would have obliterated anything else from view. :D
Something for the 10th edition - no, PLEASE not 10 models per round! - we really needs an album of out-takes, photos which went bad, group photos, WIP photos, cat photos etc. :D - probably best compiled after the event.
-
Congratulations to all, and a big thanks for showing and sharing your work
Really great stuff, and wish I could match up to the skills shown here every year.
:D
-
Thank you very much fellow competitors, administrators and spectators alike for that jolly good show! I suppose I will not reach an equal production quantity during the rest of the year and I´m happy of having contributed a new entry to every single round. :D
-
Well done and a thank you to all who took part for entertaining and wowing us with such excellent efforts. Particular congratulomatationisms to the big three
-
Thanks to Mum, Dad, God and all people who believed in me. ;)

Don't forget your manager either ;)

Big thanks to the organisers and everybody who took the time to vote. I had a great time and I'm very satisfied I actually painted some stuff this year. Apparently I need the stress of some kind of a deadline to be productive!
-
Fellows, lads, friends: thank you all for the nice words, and thanks especially for the Captain and Prof for running this exciting event once again! And of course thanks to everybody who was mad enough to contribute round after round with another bunch of nicely painted stuff, and - last but not at all least - to everybody giving their votes!
It was a great show again and we're now looking forward to the 10th anniversary of LPL next year. It should have some special elements, I'm pretty sure we'll find something ... For now I did nothing figure-wise for a full week and recovered reading books, watching some tv-shows and relaxed. Then arrived that marvelous Mad Max Fury Road artists book ... ;D :-*
Congrats Richard and Matt! Michael: endlich mal n Schalker woll? :D
lol lol Ja genau, und nächstes Jahr bist Du wieder dabei -mit intakten Malwerkzeugen!
-
Congratulations Michael, a very well deserved victory for German arms (well paintbrushes). And well done to everyone who took part. And thanks to the 500 or so LAFers who took the time to vote and comment on the matches every week. You're all participants too. As we say in the theatre - there's no play without an audience. The actors are nothing without the crowd :)
-
Congratulations! :)
-
Congrats to the podium winners and a big hand to all the participants, voters and especially the organizers. 8)
Thanks for making the past 10 Sunday mornings a big treat :)
-
Brilliant stuff by one and all 8).
When will the next season begin? I always seem to miss the start o_o o_o
Darrell.
-
usually it starts shortly after the tactica in Hamburg, Germany, if that is any help ^^
I think LPL begins around April ... so be prepared for News from February on

"reminding" is not he correct term here ... you might find some battle-gloves in Your digital face :o
-
Congratulations to the winner. The entries were of such an incredible standard that I am looking forward to season 10 already.
-
Many thanks to the organisers and congrats to the winners and to everyone involved.
It was a great fun to be part of this show. I hope be there next year.
-
Thank you to all those who ran this great annual event - The only part of my hobby that my wife fully approves of and allows me to buy more lead for those different things I fancy.
Congratulations to everyone who entered it has been an utter pleasure. Special congrats to the top 3.
Time to start thinking about next year
-
excellent work all round, really enjoyed seeing the entries and voting etc
standards were very high indeed :o with all participants deserving a pat on the back!
-
Congratulations to everyone who took part.
Thank you for all the great entries.
Tony
-
And a big thank you to Captain Blood for running the show.
-
Thanks Steve. Actually, with only 32 participants it's not too much work - I didn't enjoy it quite so much when we had 76 in one of my previous LPL's at the helm!
Thanks also to The Prof for handling the scorekeeping side of things, which in many ways is harder work than receiving entries and setting up the matches. (Well, for a mathematical numpty and speadsheet-phobic like me it is, anyway... :))
-
Is there a vote on the best single entry from any round?
Or has that happened already?
