Title: Pirates! Killer Robots! And the Far Reaches of Space!
Post by: Operator5 on January 02, 2007, 11:03:43 AM
2006 is over and we’re already in high gear for 2007. We released three titles in the previous 12 months; two for .45 Adventure: Crimefighting Action in the Pulp Era and our new game Gloire: Swashbuckling Adventure in the Age of Kings. And we’re not going to slow down in 2007 with four titles on the schedule.

For .45 Adventure
In March we release The Gargoyle: Death Soldiers of the Jade Hood. This title will introduce some new archetypes and new skills, but it will mainly focus on campaign and character advancement rules. It will include the fictional city of New Commerce where players can set their campaigns with some handy background material.

We'll be releasing at least two new packs of miniatures with this. One will be our Citizens of New Commerce pack for which we have shown the greens (grays). The second will be Allies of the Gargoyle. The Jade Hood has managed to get some minions with Bud and Lou, now the Gargoyle gets his help in the form of Bridget Rourke, Ace Reporter and Mo, ex-heavyweight boxer.

In July we'll be releasing Super Science Tales: Terror of the Metal Menace---Finally we get into more super science creations with things like killer robots and weird inventions. We should have at least one new pack of miniatures to release with this.

For Gloire
June will see the release of Under the Black Flag. Pirates! You knew they were coming. Pete Murray's been hard at work on this, coming up with plenty of new naval archetypes as well as some close ship action.

The end of the year MAY see a second title released for Gloire. That is still a little up in the air as work has not begun work on it yet.

NEW STUFF!
We've dropped lots of rumors, but you're hearing it officially now. November will see the release of Fantastic Worlds: Pulp Action in the Far Reaches of Space. This will be the third game system and have a distinctive Science Fiction flair. Marc Anderson is currently writing the rules for this. You'll now be able to run all the Flash Gordon, Buck Rogers, or John Carter games you want. There will be rules for Aliens, Ray Guns, and all kinds of great new archetypes.

Expect some new figures to be released with this game as well.

After the release of Super Science Tales, I'll also begin work for an early 2008 release of Broadsword Adventures: Savage Tales of Fantasy. Forget all those Tolkien clone games, we get back to some serious Conan-style excitement!

Well, that's all for this year. I should have plenty of new things to share in the coming weeks. Thanks to everyone who has helped make 2006 great and I hope we can continue to bring you all kinds of pulp excitement in 2007.

Great news for the new year and beyond, brightens up a dull and wet day here in middle England.

Wishing the continued success in 2007 you so deserve.

Rich, you continue to amaze me with your productivity and your single-mindedness (at least compared with my own devotion to at least 15 projects - unrelated and often incomplete - at once!).

In particular I look forward to your space adventure rules: I know far too little about Pulp sci-fi.

But - aha! - I do intend on getting my own 'Astounding Tales!' - derived sword and sorcery system, "Chainmail Bikini" done this year, and thus steal a march on you for the massive market of mighty thew'd barbarians out there. Take that, Mr Scheduled Releases!!!

Meanwhile we must meet soon at our usual greasy diner in Joisey and eat in the true style of Spade and Marlowe -- H

I will concede that you MAY beat me out with your title, but I have two words that may trump yours...

...Box Set!   8)

We'll see what happens come the end of the year.

And the greasy spoon sounds like a good plan. You pick the date, I'll supply the flivver.

I can only say two things:

1) I'm absolutlely thrilled!!!!!!
2) My poor wallet

I really, really look forward to both the .45 expansions and the chainmail underwear (my wife still refuses to wear anything made of chainmail and tiny rabbit furs...)

NOW: Back to the painting table!!!!

Dinosaurs would be a natural for .45 Adventures or for Fantastic Worlds.

i.e. 'Prehistoric Planet'

Fantastic Worlds sounds like just what I've been looking for!

Will the pirates supplement need Gloire to be played or will it be on its own?

You'll need Gloire for Under the Black Flag as it will not contain the main rules.

Well, with each release we have more to build with. You can expect some drawings and more photos as well. I will definitely be adding lots of examples as well.

In fact, Jerry Frazee has just done some interior illustrations for this book. Here is my favorite of the new batch he just sent.

Action will take place at a dockside, in the streets of the city, in Chinatown, in a Buddhist temple, a warehouse, at a boxing match, and the secret lair of the Jade Hood. Those are the only specific places that you may want to look at.

But scenery can be altered to suit what you have. Don't go to crazy building and maybe plan some terrain that has alternate uses.

P.S. Did you get my PM?

That's really useful to know, Rich.  As I'm making my city in anticipation of the new release, I'll be sure to incorporate some of these locations...

So I have until June to get a pirate crew ready and the Gloire! rules purchased and played enough that I have the hang of them.

I think even a slacker-gamer like myself can manage that! I'll buy the kid brother a pack o' pirates and build myself an opponent too!

Yes, I'm a bit excited. :D
