Title: Don's pulp stuff
Post by: DonVoss on July 04, 2015, 09:09:01 AM
Builded a zeppelin interior in the last nights.

The painting is pretty WIP...;)

Supposed for Micro-Skirmishes like .45-Adventure or really tiny pulp alley.

Closeup.

And it had to fit in one of my transportboxes...:)

Mesures 60x12cm...

Cheers,
Don

Very nice work indeed.

Building the dirigible/ gas bag bit is the easy part, it's building the hangar that is the tough bit.

My mother in-law lives not far from this one in Rio de Janeiro. It was built to house the Hindenberg. It ain't small.

Definitely the right way to go.use a smaller airship on the table and build a separate interior ( built to fit your storage and not the other way round)for gaming in.you could do a level of walkways amongst the gas bags,( kinder egg gas bags maybe ?)
Good idea well executed .
Mark.

That's awesome. I've been wanting to build something like that. We've played a bunch of Pulp Alley scenarios in an area about this size. Works perfect!  ;)

Looks great! You should find a way to suspend or elevate it on the table to give the illusion of being in mid-air, maybe with wires or hidden flight stands, something like that.

Or with actual hydrogen balloons.

That looks great!

I'm not doing much pulp gaming these days, having been distracted by other shiny objects, but a zepp gondola in something like this style has long been on my "things I'd like to build" list - congratulations on going ahead and actually building one!

The thought occurs that with your design you could add additional central modules, adding a ballroom, extra staterooms, a top secret laboratory, hangar bay, or whatever the zepp needed for the scenario you have in mind!

Thanx for all the great input...:)

I builded a plane in the last week. Mostly interior again...
Inspired by the famous scene from Indiana Jones II.

Its a cramped little location, surely not a playing ground on its own. But I like small encounters for 10-15 min. in between bigger things... :D

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/p1_zpsyv4mswti.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/p1_zpsyv4mswti.jpg.html)

The rivets to took the longest time. They are made from spare spears, cut into slices...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/p2_zpsb58zpqos.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/p2_zpsb58zpqos.jpg.html)

Managed to paint it over the weekend.

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/p3_zpsswkhoqbr.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/p3_zpsswkhoqbr.jpg.html)

The crates are from 4 ground and can highly recomend them.

Cheers,
Don

This plane needs a door mat! Your crew have so much sand, grass and even rocks on their boots that I'm afraid it might upset the balance of the aircraft.

Apart from that, nice work! Makes me want to go on an adventure with them.

I will add here more of myrecent pulp stuff, so I changed the title...;)

I will start with the next transport inspired idea: wargamin on the roofs without houses under it. So you need some imagination on that...:D

Intended  for very smallencounters like pulp alley, Fistful of Kung Fu or .45 Adventure. You can gun it out or jump from roof to roof as a peril...

Okay, I grabed a few pieces of Styropor and some ready made railway walls.

After the first roofs were ready I builded some stuff to get coverand entry points.
All intended for transport, there for everything is a little skechty and durable.

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/g1_zpskxadt9g2.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/g1_zpskxadt9g2.jpg.html)

I am intending to do a 4th roof...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/g2_zpsaeasrqdu.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/g2_zpsaeasrqdu.jpg.html)

And everything fits in a transportbox...;)

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/g3_zpsxnvzxhri.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/g3_zpsxnvzxhri.jpg.html)

And here is the first roof painted.

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/g4_zps7s05urkx.jpg) (http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/g4_zps7s05urkx.jpg.html)

Now I need some Copplestone gangster...  lol

Cheers,
Don

Okay, here is alittle bit more terrain for my pulp games...

I always had the idea of a modular gaming bord (transport issues), but the joints never looked right. Then I thought of a way to use them to favour the terrain....:)

So I sat down and made few sketches...took an old styropor thing and scraped a few rough forms...

Thats how it looks with a little sand and paint on it...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/Polar6_zpsafeyh2ta.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/Polar6_zpsafeyh2ta.jpg.html')

I added a water part from some plastic card...;)

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/Polar7_zpsp8zfo3nm.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/Polar7_zpsp8zfo3nm.jpg.html')

You can use the water part to get different styles of playing field.

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/Polar8_zpszugilnur.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/Polar8_zpszugilnur.jpg.html')

Corner module...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/Polar9_zps2acbgru2.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/Polar9_zps2acbgru2.jpg.html')

And you can stack the parts on top of the gaming field to get a little bit more of 3D feeling.

The whole board fits in a usual shopping bag.

Cheers,
Don

If I may be so bold, what method did you use to cut your board? It looks superb and fits together just right!

Let's see...jumping over a crevasse....perilous, of course...but perhaps EXTREMELY perilous?  :D

Thanx, gents....;)

@cutting
I just cutted it with a cheap one-way cutter. Pretty cosiusly not to break anything...

@perious
Yes. We palyed a game of pulp alley on it. All the whole board was perilous and the cracks were very perilous...;)
Worked pretty well, allthough the borad is quite small. We added a rule for fog, so no shooting over 12 inches.

Cheers,
Don

Dont know if that is perhaps more something for the workbench thread, but I ll add it here anyway...;)

I wanted to build some Hong Kong terrain for my pulp games.

And I had all these ideas of Bruce Lee und Jacky Chan fighting in the streets of the red light district...
Okay how could I do it with roofs and streets and cars and all that.
Perhaps a little bit problematic: the next gaming day was the other night, so I just had one night to build all the stuff... o_o

Okay, I am a quick and sketchy scratch builder, but a whole town in one night...no way. Even for a small pulp board.
Than I had the idea of not actually building a town, but just adding a few things to my existing desert town....:)
Add a few billboards and aircon stuff to the walls.

Okay, thats how the desert town looked like. Not very Hong Kong at all..

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu_zpsom7hurbq.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu_zpsom7hurbq.jpg.html')

And here are the materialas I used for the scratchbuilding night...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu1_zpsdxn0uw5z.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu1_zpsdxn0uw5z.jpg.html')

And the whole stuff glued and painted...

(http://i928.photobucket.com/albums/ad126/DonVoss_photos/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu2_zpsxg6qeqfg.jpg) (http://'http://s928.photobucket.com/user/DonVoss_photos/media/A-Fistfull-of-Kung-Fu2_zpsxg6qeqfg.jpg.html')

Enough for a 60x60cm board...

Took me around 12 hours...so a pretty long night.... lol

I ll add a few gaming pics...

Cheers,
Don

But then I found a few left overs from the present for my father in laws 65s bithday....;)

Fantastic loking gaming board, I really like the way you've managed to get the extra usage from your desert buildings.
