Title: Latin Kingdom of Constantinople Variation
Post by: Lagartija Mike on July 30, 2015, 02:06:23 AM
I'm putting together a hypothetical army list of a state based on the Latin Kingdom of Constantinople. I'm a little lean on sources regarding the use of native Greek elements in its military. If anyone has any information or can point me to source materials I'd appreciate it.

As an avid collector of lists I've come across one from an old DBM army list book (IV). It may, or may not, be of use. It starts in 1204 AD (I assume the fall of Constantinople) and, for the Latin Empire, ends in 1261.

DBM Book 4

Only Latin Empire from 1239 AD to 1261 AD:

I've left out all the Achaean Frank parts. Melingoi are described as Slav hillmen. Archontes described as former Byzantine pronoia holders regarded by Franks as feudal gentry. Greeks are also described as serving willingly.

Many people find the old DBM army books useful for casual day dreaming. Hope this advances your cause some what.
