Well actually their French but I've painted them as Spanish troops. There's still a few more of these to do and they will be based by the owner so Ill put the others up on completion. I think these are the first Front Rank figures I've painted, they were very nice to paint and the sculpts are very clean. The only thing I would say is they are a little "stiff" in their poses but then that may appeal to a lot of people, especially in this period.

Splendid stuff Jeff, they look the business ;D
-
Beatiful! (Damn, now I need some of these...)
-
Great work! :-* 8) :-*
(...and they are from the very nice Front Rank range indeed)
-
Splendidly turned out Sir.
Front Rank figures are certainly a joy to paint.
-
Nice work on those Jeff :)
-
Very tidy paintwork Jeff :-*
I agree about the stiffness. I quite like Front Rank figures, but they do have a bit of that old fashioned toy soldier feel to them.
Very easy and pleasurable painting though :)
-
A very handsome unit. They look like they know their business.

Thanks for the nice comments lads, as I said these are the first batch of a unit of 28 along with an Artillery crew which I hope to do over the next couple of weeks. And who knows where we may go from there..... :D
-
@Jeff965, You said that they will be based by the owner… are the black round bases just for holding them during painting? If so, how do you make them hold? I had some hard time figuring out a way to make figures hold on their temporary bases which will resist all the painting manipulations but will be easy enough to "unglue" once the painting is done… :?
-
Hi Calimero, a little dot of wood glue is your friend. Holds it well enough and easy to pop off.

Excellent unit!!! ;)
-
Love 'em :-* :-* :-*
Darrell.

Last of the Infantry, 30 figures in all and quite a little force to be getting on with. Only the Artillery crew left to do now. I'm sure when their based up and a nice flag is added they will look the part.
-
Very good Jeff.
-
Nice work on those Jeff, the look on the ensigns face seems to be saying"I'll never get these gloves clean ! " :)

Looking forward to it Nick, also looking forward to seeing them based up.
-
Artillery crew ready to support the Infantry, Front Rank figures with an Empress miniatures naval gun.
-
Lovely as aleays. ;D
That's a big gun! Could be useful at the Spanish port! ;)
-
Are these yours Nick? Are they appearing at BLAM on Sunday?
-
Nice work on those minis Jeff :)

Yes and no, lol
I will get some of the Infantry based in time but not the artillery.

And true to his word he did, I know these have appeared on another thread but I thought they finished this thread off nicely. Unless Malamute has based some more........ ::)
-
They look the business Jeff.
Sadly, I understand they didn't fight too well though lol
-

Ahem, not yet. ::)
And as the good captain says like all virgin painted troops they didn't fair terribly well on the day. Not surprising when I think it was five separate pirate crews descended upon their port all at the same time. lol
-
Nick I'm very tempted to get some of these for myself, would you mind divulging the colours you used for the basing so I can copy them :)
-
Brilliant! Lovely, clean brush work! :-*

Only just caught on to these, flouncy shirts not really being my 'thing'.
They certainly look rather 'swish'.
Nice painting , Jeff.
Basing looks good too, Mama.
:-* :-*
And all that 'virgin' troops tosh as a reason why they got a hiding.....I blame their commander, myself.
A proper 'flouncy shirt' fella he must have been.
;D
