Studio Minaitures have announced on their Facebook page a new Kickstarter project for the 1st Afghan War coming soon.
I believe their Sikh Wars range has been popular, so those looking for something else besides the Usual NWF stuff may find this interesting.

I find the First Afghan War more interesting by far. I had a book on it once. Hmmm ... maybe I can borrow it back from the fellow I gave it to. I just couldn't any miniatures at the time!
-
Oh. Oh dear. I wanted to do that, skirmish-style, ever since I first read Flashman, but managed to avoid it on the excuse that I couldn't find figures I liked. But Studio Miniatures... oh dear.
-
Yes I agree, this sounds promising, fingers crossed it takes off :)
-
First mini up on their facebook page, looks promising :)
-
I look forward to seeing what Studio Miniatures come up with.
I have a few books on the war.
They are somewhere out in the mess of my garage.
Lots of interesting ideas on battles.
In the early 1990's I purchased some figures of this period from Richard Houston.
Limited to 100 sets of 50 figures.
Not great figures, but not bad.

I could have sworn that I'd posted a reply!
Sounds like a great project and Stuart is good at this sort of thing so they should be great looking mini's.
I'd do the First Afghan War (probably at skirmish level given current commmitments) that's for sure :)
Darrell.

Interested, I do prefer the earlier wars. How about a figure of Dr Brydon on his knackered horse.
-
This could be good, Nick Collier is a great sculptor.
-
Ooooh yes. I love Nick Collier's stuff, and Flashman - well, nuff said :)
-
The prototype on Facebook looks very promising. Might just get one or two... ::)

I don't 'need' any. ;) But you're quite right, what's the point of that? :D
-
That is very promising isn't it!
-
I don't 'need' any. ;)
Since when has 'need' ever been part of our hobby. 'Want' is a much more apposite phrase lol lol
However it may be the relatively poor photograph, but that pose has not inspired me (yet). ???
-
I had a load of the original Foundry range but these look like they will be more suitable for the cold weather.
The book to get on this war is Kabul catastrophe by Patrick Macrory.

Better pics :

Really excellent and a skirmish scale project that I'll be immersing myself in for sure :-* :-* :-*

New pack announced on the Kickstarter, Assorted skirmish with characters......something to do with recreating a picture???

Workhouse here I come, may The Lord have mercy on my wallet.
-
Indeed, when this was just regimented marching poses it was sort of "neat range of figures, great sculpts but not getting into big battle games in another era".
But with skirmish suitable poses and characters...oh hell :-*
