My first painted Imperial Assault miniatures:

No, you painted your very first Imperial Assault miniatures very well. lol
-
Very well, indeed!
:-* :-*
Love those bases too.

Very nice work there!
Did they take you very long to do?
-
Great job 8) (and I know how much of a pain they can be...)

I know that you know, Agis! Thank you...
Very nice work there!
Did they take you very long to do?
Approximately two hours per trooper...
-
The rest of the stormtroopers from the Imperial Assault boardgame box is painted now.

They are dressed in black, they are capable and they are loyal to the emperor: Stormtrooper officers - the best of the best.
I reposed one of them by cutting off and repositioning the arms and head. I shortened his tunic too. The red Aurebesh letter on the marks him elite for gaming purpose in Imperial Assault.

Oh wow, I just love the converted Officer with shorter tunic! Looks great.
-
Nice conversion. The officer is one of the figures that really needed more then one pose. I'm starting to regret painting all my figures already as everyone is making such great reposes lately.
And the Stormtroopers look amazing!

Royal Guard of Emperor Palpatine: Dressed in red of course...

Fantastic painting Michi, well done! The red robes are especially well done I feel. 8)

Yep.
Beautiful deep reds that really do come across as heavy velvet robes.

Excellent work! :o

Imperial probe droids, the rather frightening protagonists in the ouverture of Episode V "The Empire strikes back"...
I made two different bases to mark the models either regular or elite. The jungle bases stand for regular combat abilities. All regular models (except Star Destroyer/Death Star staff) will be based that way. This is how the bases blend in with the terrain tiles of the board game.

Elite models will have wasteland bases that blend in with the Tattooine terrain tiles.

Fantastic idea with the bases - they look excellent! :)
-
I love the reflection on the eyes. Bases are nice too. They actually look like they were cast that way.
-
The different bases is a great idea!
SW IA was really tempting me to go for transparent bases, but in the end I stuck to the classic textured bases...
BTW - Your minis also seem to suffer from the warped plastic bases, I had good results with the usual hot (nearly boiling) water, cold water technique.
-
BTW - Your minis also seem to suffer from the warped plastic bases, I had good results with the usual hot (nearly boiling) water, cold water technique.
Thanks Agis, if you mean the lifted edges - they are due to the thickness of a coin that is glued under the base to provide a bit of weight to the light plastic miniatures.
-
Nice work on the sensor array, thats a nice touch Michi. Putting a washer underneath to add stability is a smart move. Ive been cutting the bendy plastics (WotC) off their bases and mounting to washers too.
More SW figures in the pipeline as the movie draws near mate?
Cheers
Matt

I love the reflection on the eyes.
Me too.
They look really menacing.

Lovely paint work :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Great job on the scout troopers. I really like the light grey/white blend.
This is a really nice sculpt of the chicken walker. A little squatter and more compact. Great paint work too.
-
Love the AT-ST. Really clean paint job, with plenty of visual interest. The Scout Troopers with E-Webs are lovely too.

These all look great. Seeing yours completed reminds me how far I have to go. :-[

Very well done indeed Michi - getting them all done to that standard is a real acheivement! 8)

Damn, you beat me! I still got some to paint!
;)
Great job...

After the core game miniatures were done, I had to start painting some of the supplements from the villains and allies expansion packs.

Your Han and Chewbacca are fantastic. All of your figures are amazing, but Han and Chewy are real stand outs. I think the first Imperial Assault figures anyone chooses to paint after finishing the core game miniatures are Han, Chewy, and IG88. I mean, who doesn't want Han and Chewy, and IG88 practically paints himself.

:-* :-* :-* Looking good Michi. Han's face turned out nicely. 8) 8)

Ysanne Isard - called "Iceheart", the highest ranking agent of the galactic Empire - a little conversion of an Imperial officer from the Imperial Assault board game. The plastic miniature was newly proportioned and is less tall now, got her arms repositioned and received a resin head that was donated by Fenryll miniature.

Great conversion! :o 8)
It is good to see that the expanded universe is still alive!
-
Absolutely amazing! :-* Wow, outstanding work on this whole thread!
-
Very good work indeed, I have all of those and play regularly with my son who loves it. Have promised myself I will begin to paint the minis. All that white on the Stormtroopers looks pretty daunting.
Looking forward to more if you have more :)
-
Looking forward to more if you have more :)
I have... :D
Two more Imperial officers - both slightly converted and in Imperial navy livery this time. The female got a resin head from Fenryll, but kept her hat and her silhouette got dry sculpted (carved) from the original body plus arms cut off, shortened and repositioned. The male got only his tunic shortened.

I really admire your sculpting skills!!!

I feel that it is time to resurrect this thread. I seem to have missed to post my latest Imperial Assault miniatures. I thought I did, but the search function does not lead me to any hits and this should not be.
So here are some pictures from 2016:

And the total of my 2016 Imperial Assault output together:

2018 saw me rebasing all of the aforementioned miniatures on clear acrylic bases, because the floor tiles showed space station floors, snow and a lot more too meanwhile and the sculpted and painted bases looked odd to me.

I don't think the bases look too bad in comparison to the earlier ones:

I wondered how to mark the bases for ELITE troopers and came to rubber bands. Thus the same miniature can be either ELITE or STANDARD.

How easy was the rebasing
-
How easy was the rebasing
Very easy, I cut them carefully off with a scalpel and repainted the edges of the soles where necessary. Cutting the AT-STs was a bit harder, because their feet were cast with the base.

Great stuff :)
Shame the pose for IA are so limited :?

Thanks!
I will nick some LEGION miniatures for the game, glue them to clear bases too and Bob is your uncle...

Second thread resurrection today:
I decided to re-organize my storage in the attic and ordered some boxes and foams by Feldherr these days. My Imperial Assault miniatures are subject to that move as well and I found out that a lot of the expansion models were left unpainted and forgotten somewhere in the dark. A new group of young gamers who are currently dipping their toes into the first adventures of Hero Quest (mastered by myself) are doomed to step into IA not too far in the future as well, because they are big Star Wars fans too. I feel this is something that has to be supported of course and thought it would be better to paint the miniatures in time to have them ready when it's due.
So here are two Wampas and two Nexus for challenging encounters in the wilderness of a galaxy far far away... :D

Excellent 8)
I've got that rancor hiding in a box somewhere and after seeing this I might just get him out :)
-
Love it! Terrific brushwork there.

Very cool. Where is the Rancor from?
-
Where is the Rancor from?
The Rancor is from Fantasy Flight Games too. It belongs to the Imperial Assault range.
At this size scale doesn’t matter too much, so it’s just as good for Legion or SWMB by WEG.

A rather well known couple since the late 1970s: R2-D2 and C-3PO:

Obi-Wan Kenobi instead represents all the good, faithful and true in that universe. He is undoubtfully considered the greatest sword fighter with a lightsaber ever.

All are outstanding but I especially like Obi

Where’s Jabba from?
Jabba is an Imperial Assult miniature as well as the Rancor. Both were released with the "Jabba's Realm" expansion, although Jabba himself was not provided with the set, but as a marker only (see third picture of contents). He was sold separately.

I especially like the way you have done 3PO, the gold is quite effective. :)

Cheers for that Michi.
Not cheap is he lol

Not cheap is he lol
I bought him for 15€ back in the days when he was released. Around 20 quid on ebay at the cheapest now.

great work. Love the blaster.

Quite a size difference between the first two though. Are they from the same range?

Yes, all of the miniatures shown in this thread are original Fantasy Flight Games from the Imperial Assault range. There is indeed some scale difference in that range... ::)
-
I admit, that my progress is a low one, but I'm still painting an Imperial Assault miniature occasionally.
Two more are finished now - Loku Kanoloa & Biv Bodhrik:

Any progress is good progress and these are great 8)
-
Well they were worth waiting for. Lovely colours.
-
I think I have all the Imperial Assault boxes and most of the figures. However, I've only painted a tiny fraction of them, so your progress is quicker than mine :)
Size differences and having to replace every bendy lightsabre, however, really don't help :(
-
Nice work on the clothing. Lots of layers. They look great.
-
lovely paint jobs as always :)
-
If we are twin's seperated at birth how come you got all the painting talent. ;)
Just gone through your thread and it's wonderful painting.
Slow lol but wonderful. :-*
-
If we are twin's seperated at birth how come you got all the painting talent. ;)
It's not the talent. I simply was lucky enough to be raised on the side of the channel where metric measures are used instead of confusing imperial ones like fluid ounces and other odd non-decimal weights... :D
-
Time keeps draggin' on - like the man in black sang many moons ago. Anyway, I'm still painting the occasional Imperial Assault minature or two:

From left to right, these are Jarrod Kelvin, Shyla Varad, Ko-Tun Feralo and Davith Elso.
There is a droid called J4X-7 as companion for Jarrod Kelvin, but that one's 3D printed version is not yet in my possession. The marker will do the job meanwhile, because miniature of "Jax" was never released officially.
