Title: Transferring GMTs War Galley to the table-top
Post by: olicana on October 15, 2015, 06:06:51 PM
I'm planning on transferring the action to the table-top. Review / Report here:http://olicanalad.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/war-galley-miniatures-game.html (http://olicanalad.blogspot.co.uk/2015/10/war-galley-miniatures-game.html)

The game has to be one of the most fiddly games I've ever played - I think it will be much better transferred to a bigger format.

If you know this game, please tell me what you think. At the moment my actual play time is minimal. E.g. tips on tracking play, etc.

Too bad it didn't work out as planned. The look and confusion of that battle you fought may very well resemble the historical situation. However, there are certainly more enjoyable ways to depict that. It's a thin line between oversimplification and clunky rules trying to cover a lot of technical detail.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on "War Galley". Clearly a miss then.

It was interesting to read your comments, even if I tend to disagree. I really like War Galley, and never found the command rules so bad. They could be a bit confusing, but they had never been a problem for me.

I consider War Galley a really good game from GMT and Richard.

Oh well, we all have different ideas...  lol
