Schleswig Holstein war 1864 - 28mm
Great game at the club, plenty of laughs and banter, idea was for the Prussian/Holstein army with some Austrians to get the Danish army from the trenches, once that happened they fell back to the vauban fort and it was game over.
Lots of figures and rules used for this was the Victorian Steel 1839-1901

The Danes planned to defend the ancient DANEWERK (Danevirke in Danish, an earthen wall crossing the peninsula north of the Eider River. That plan soon was given up as there were no barracks and the line was in no condition to be held.

The Danish army, 40,000 men, withdrew toward Flensburg. The Danish army was no match for the combined Prusso-Austrian forces. In the BATTLE OF HELGOLAND (May 9th) the Danish Navy scored a victory over the Austrian Navy, although no ships were sunk.

Meanwhile, , the Danish land forces were defeated by the Prussian forces near DYBBĜL (April 18th; in German : Düppel); all of Jutland was occupied by Prussian and Austrian troops. At Dybboel the Prussians suffered 1201 dead and wounded, the Danes 1669. On April 29th, the Danish fortress FREDERICIA surrendered.

Truce negotiations held in London since April 25th collapsed on June 20th. The Germans occupied the Jutland peninsula (kune/July) and the island of Als (June) (in German : Alsen). At Als the Danish losses numbered 3,148, the Prussian ones 372). On October 30th truce was finally signed; on November 16th, the allied Austrian and Prussian troops evacuated Jutland.

During the war, the Danish Army (40,000 men) had faced 28,500 Austrians and 43,500 Prussians (on both sides the Navy not included). In total, the Danes lost 14,460 men, of them 3,151 dead, the Prussians lost 3,536 men, of them 1,048 dead, the Austrian lost 1,164 men.

Excellent summary there and some particularly nice piccies, especially the trenches and redoubt.
Can you tell us more about the troops you've used - I've not seen those chaps with the caps and havelocks before - are they Mex-American figs given a recoat as Prussians or other Germans?

Redoubt miniatures-ACW they have seperate heads, i got some for the Danish army with the havelock, i got a book with a oil painting clearly showing they wore them, well at least in the painting, thought it would look cool.
The Holstein army, i use the Mexican-American range, American iinfantry, same uniform no difference, got a uniform guide book, the Hussars i also got from the same range, i used these for the death heads (picture one) - The Prussian dragoons behind them are officers from the NorthStar range, i made straps across the cheast, these could be Prussians or Holstein cavalry.
Holstein infantry are Prussians but i painted a white arm band to show these were Holstein infantry which they wore,flags i created which you can get from the web site.

Beautiful setup,especially like the Vauban fortress. That's a lot of troops,I'm half way thru my danes,I'l.l have 4 brigades when I'm done' ,plus already have Austrians,tons of Prussians,Schleswig brigade and German confederation troops. seeing your wonderful setup inspired me to get my butt in gear and finish my Danes,w more from Northstar coming.again great game.

Havelock ,is the neckcloth attached to bottom of the Kepi,protecting the back of the neck from the elements,Named after Havelock ,british officer of Indian Mutiny fame,who used it in the heat of Indiaaa

I think this post has mixed units from the 1848 War with historical info re the second 1864 war?
The first War in 1848 was a S-H rebellion supported by rather second line Prussians and 'German' volunteers.
The second war in 1864 had German League troops (Hanoverians, Saxons, Austrians and Prussians) vs the Danes - the Austrians and Prussians hastily pushed the Saxons and Hanoverians aside to 'get the glory' and political advantage from thrashing badly outnumbered Danes. The Saxons and Hanoverians don't seem to have been much upset by not having to fight!
