Title: Taking the plunge into BMG
Post by: Irishvince on October 30, 2015, 02:24:44 PM
I finally I decided to take the plunge and ordered some Batman Miniature games mini. I had the hardest time finding what I would be playing as all of the characters are pretty cool.

If you want to see the reasoning behind my pick you can see it in my blog here: https://miniaturesandmeanderings.wordpress.com/2015/10/30/shhhh-its-okay-to-be-affraid/

TL:DR: I picked Scarecrow, with Zsasz as a free agent with some henchmens and possibly Hush for bigger games.

Are you guys mostly going with obvious crews (Batman, Joker, Penguin) or are you trying going for new configurations?

PS: I will get you pics of my models as soon as they are decent to show.

Cool!

Can't wait to see your models.

I bought a ton of them a while back, and have yet to start a single one......

There are tons of options for building a crew. I just picked models I liked that could work together.

they have really ramped up their releases...you could do just about any gang from the Batman Mythos...well no Bat-mite yet :)

That's true. If you're even a fan of Batman in passing, you could probably build a crew that you'll be happy to play. I'm foolishly trying to collect everything...but their release schedule has ramped up during the second half of 2015 so it's looking less and less likely that I'll be able to accomplish such a feat, let alone paint them all.

You're a braver man than me, I can't keep up and only get the ones I regard as 'must haves'
Given unlimited money and time I'd have them all too

Regards

Jim

Other than Pulp City (which I have most of) there isn't really anything I'm collecting anymore so I finally gave into my love of the range earlier this year. I do wish the prices were a little lower. If they expand it out to all of DC there is almost no way I'll be able to continue.

As for BMG I've got all the markers I need painted for two players, plus all the cops, Catwoman and Batwoman all done. Between just those figures I can easily make two 250 rep or lower crews. If you want to go for larger crews it'll support some interesting crews up to 350 or 400 (which is a game size I would really shudder to play due to how long I think it would take).

Without adding anything beyond the odd free agent and whatever new police models KM releases, I am pretty certain I could happily play with just these models and have a great gaming experience. Adding the odd Batman miniature makes it into a Batman crew instead of Law Forces. The same would go for adding a Green Arrow.

I'm wanting to get in to it. I have the downloaded (legally) PDF from their site and I've been thinking of giving it a try just using Heroclix to see if I like it. Is it a hard game to learn? I've not played a lot of miniature games besides a bit of WH40K a long time ago and lots of 'Clix

You can certainly learn with the free rules, but having gone down that path myself...it's tougher than you might think.

Recently got into this myself.

Went for Batman and Bane first and Foremost, got Penguin starter for really cheap.

Also want to get Scarecrow Militia crew with the Arkham Knight at some point.

I keep pushing the Penguin crew down my to-buy list. It's not that the models don't look good. I particularly like the Penguin figure in the crew box. Rather, I have already bought, built or started painting figures for four other crews (Batman, Joker, Bane and League), so I'm trying to stay up to date and/or complete those before branching out even more.

It's really getting to be a challenge to keep up with the accelerated releases this year. Joker alone has had a LOT of new stuff, mainly Harley-centric which is cool, but it does feel like some of the other crews like Black Mask and Two-Face are really getting left behind.
