Has anyone heard when Great Escape Games will start selling their new Iron Cross rules? Just heard about them on the Meeples & Miniatures podcast but I can't find too much else on the interwebs.
Thanks

They were saying it would be released in October. I guess now it's "soon" These intrigue me but as you say not much detail available on them yet.
-
I asked Stuart direct last week, as keen to give them a go.
He said release at end of November.
-
Yeah, these have caught our eye as well.... Definitely following.

There's a designers notes article in the latest WI.
-
I'm looking forward to these too.

Release date will be mid-December. Pre-order stuff up on the site in a week or so.

Just learned about IC and listened to the Meeples Podcast. It sounded innovative so before the rules are released, we managed a hybrid test game using the activation/reaction mechanics gleaned from the podcast spliced to a game of Bolt Action.
The results are very encouraging as players must be more involved in constant demand decisions instead of merely waiting for the draw of a dice. What to activate, when to risk reactivating a unit, when to withdraw, when to react to an enemy - so many decisions. Indeed, I could forsee games using a timing mechanism to move players along as they mentally wrestle with hard choices on the most effective use of rapidly depleting command resources.
Our test game also demonstrated the need to surrender initiative to your opponent in order to hold some Command Tokens in reserve. At one point one of us was over-zealous with Commands leaving no Tokens in reserve - which allowed the other player 3 consecutive activations to move and wipe out a Token-less enemy formation. A costly lesson learned.
So I certainly don't mean to denigrate other WW II rule sets but it seems a tip of the hit is in order to the lads at Great Escape Games for mechanics that gamers should find intriguing.

Holy sh*t, you don't even need a rule book! :D
Nice summary!

pbeccas, we've received them early so they are shipping now...

And will there be a .pdf version available?
My bookshelves are burgeoning with rule-sets and games. I'm pretty much out of room!
-
I'll second Mr Peabody's suggestion of a pdf option - definitely something to consider.

Great report and rule review, your kit and terrain is great.
Any chance of the stats you used for both sides armour ?
I've got the rules and cannot wait to start using them once my new HQ is finished in January.
Nevermore will post some reports up in due course
These look like the rule set we have been waiting for, as it allows for multiplayer big games!

Hi, was this a question for my desert game on the other thread? Quite happy to post my armour stats if you like.
