Title: my SCW (Update)
Post by: Saya on November 22, 2008, 04:26:07 AM
Inspired by the great work of Lt. Hazel I decided to paint some figures of the Spanish civil war.
Some Moros

Excellant. Its getting harder to resist the SCW, thank goodness I've got a bad eye at the moment, makes it easier! That Lt has a lot to answer for.

Hi guys, thanks for all comments. You are very generous.

for the uniform of the Moors use two colors of a local brand (Argentina) call Eureka Paints, the colors are Candy and Yellow Napoli, in four layers:
1: Candy
2: Candy + Yellow Napoli
3: 2° layer + Yellow Napoli
4: Yellow Napoli.

to the skin of the Moors me to use GW Scorched Brown, GW Bestial Brown and Eureka Caucasian Skin, in four layers:
1: GW Scorched Brown
2: GW Scorched Brown + GW Bestial Brown
3: GW Bestial Brown with enough water
4: GW Bestial Brown + a little Eureka Caucasian Skin with enough water once more.

Lt. Hazel: thanks for the invitation, I want you all to know them personally but Argentina is very very far from Germany but maybe at some point we will be there  :D  :D  :D  and play SCW, of course!!!!  lol lol

Cheers all

Naples Yellow should be readily available from most craft stores - it's a common colour like Burnt Sienna or Raw Sienna.

I'm not quite sure, but I think that I used a Naples Yellow from Windsor & Newton as one of the drybrushes on my desert table.

I'm pretty sure, though, that Foundry Base Sand (mid-tone) is VERY close to this. You can also obtain that by mixing a bit of Scorched Brown into Bleached Bone.

AND: Very nice shading/hightlighting on those minis - I'm green with envy!!

Hi guys,
thank you all for your kind comments. You are very generous.  :)

former user,
the green of the carlistas  I did with GW goblin green + GW dark angels green and highlighting with butter ( color of a argentinian brand very close up to GW bleached bone),
the color of the Civil Guard is made with GW camo green + Vallejo storm blue (game color range) + a very small drop of black, highlighting with butter again.

Cheers
Mariano

They must be quite old by now and you must have a large basement. What did they eat all those years?
