Greetings folks,
We, at the Nunawading Wargames Association (in Melbourne)had our first game of Hail Caesar last weekend. A few of us have been building our forces throughout the year with the aim of having a major bash in December. In the meantime we have been using our troops of Lion Rampant.
This was a test game to get our heads around HC. We'd all read the rules and I've played the Warlords Pike and Shotte rules several times so I had a pretty good idea of how the system works. We made plenty of mistakes and remembered various rules half way through the game but this is all part of the learning process. Another game or two before the big bash (titled Cry Havoc) and we'll be okay.
This isn't a AAR just a post to show off some of the figures we've painted through the year. We are just making things up as we go along as far as armies are concerned. My army is German based on Fireforge's lovely Teutonic figures and is called the Hemmingseatic League - based on my surname. My opponent's army is based on French knights using old GW figures. Another player pushed into service a bunch of Normans that he inherited. The idea is to play large medieval battles without having to worry too much about history.

Just like in our Lion Rampant games this bloke popped up (again) to show his contempt to my valiant warriors.

Lovely set up and figures - I love the brightness of the pageantry.
Thanks.
That was one of the main reasons our group decided on medieval and Hail Caesar. Big units with lots of colour.
I also finished a couple of commanders for my army this week (in the photo's above you'll see some foot knights stuck to bases acting a makeshift commanders). I still need another commander and he is on the paint bench as I write.
General Otto von Rickenbacker
