Title: What colour for the IDF uniform please?
Post by: CarlLeyland on November 20, 2015, 12:17:44 PM
Hi,

I am about to order some paint and wondered what colour you Chaps would use for the IDF uniform and armour? I am trying to use Vallejo more now but if there is a GW colour match I will go for that as well.

Thanks for the help...I am not intending to start immediately but it is always good to have a back up plan and stash of goodies for a rainy day...

Off the top of my head for the common green uniform (which I assume you mean), that'd be GW Catachan Green with a dab of Baneblade Brown / Tallarn Sand. Might want to add a tiny bit of white to bring up the could a bit too. I'd avoid a light green instead of white as whilst the uniform itself is green, you'd be wanting to use browns for the tones to tie the models into the desert climate.

Thanks Wyrmalla...I have looked all over but every photo seems to be different. I will certainly try your idea as it sounds spot on.

Israeli fatigues use olive green cotton, which begins fading from the first wash, so there will be colour differences, depending how recently new items have been issued. Add in some road dust, sweat and different light conditions and yes, they will pretty much all look different.
