australians were known for carrying lots of water on them during patrols. Having been to vietnam in the hot season I can assure you it was a bloody good idea as well. The central Australian deserts are more conducive to human life than a vietnamese jungle. At least there it is a dry heat. Vietnam is like festooning your body in hot wet towels while doing zumba in front of a giant hairdryer. (but the food and people is great, far better than central australians.)
Indeed. Heat exhaustion and dehydration are numbah ten. ;-)
