Does it work with multi based figures, maybe using a dice to donate individual casualties? Don't fancy having to rebase to single figures... too tight to waste all them two pences.

Yeah, not a problem at all. It's very easy to keep a track of casualties in one's head but mini dice/casualty markers are good too.
