Ok, be gentle with me ...
I may be colour blind but i can read the labels on the paint pots.
Thanks, James

Here's what I use, light dun base from Coat d'arms, Coat d'arms khaki and faded olive splodges, vallejo German camouflage bright green swirls, chocolate brown lines and 971 green grey dots and lines. I hung up one of my shirts then put a sample of every paint I own on a piece of card, then just matched them up, ensuring I always chose the lighter options, if you think it's too light just put a greeny/brown wash on them. The sand for the base is from FOB Price, I'm just waiting for the first person to say it's the wrong colour for Afghanistan!
-
Of course if you want the old desert camouflage it's just Iraqi sand base with English uniform lines and swirls.
-
Nice work and I think your sand is spot on. ;)

Thanks FW. Much appreciated

lol lol
Quality.

That is a damn effective paintjob! The sand comment was indeed quality :D

I had a go at some of these, turned out looking a bit like multicam and probably too dark for MTP, but the mini were superbly well detailed.

Damn they're nice!!
If I was being uber-picky I'd say just a tad dark. Your khaki dry - brush suggestion would do the trick.
But even so, damn ... :)

Blatant show boating I know, perhaps I should start my own thread, but I just took this shot so you could see my method from a more realistic distance. I took another photo about a foot further out, and it's amazing the colour difference, so I wouldn't worry about the exact shades you use. Ash has a good looking recipe as well, mix them up a bit.(http://i1119.photobucket.com/albums/k624/foxweasel1/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151229_204600_zpsfa29axck.jpg) (http://s1119.photobucket.com/user/foxweasel1/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMG_20151229_204600_zpsfa29axck.jpg.html)

Now I'm just plain brassed off :)
Lovely PJ!

....and if you don't have a sample to hand here is the pattern and a shot for scale ... Hope it's of use
