Hi guys !
It's been a long time since I post a thing, mainly because I have no fantasy thread running on this forum (and I'm mainly painting fantasy miniatures for months...)
Some of you have seen my work on my bretonnian / medieval army in the "medieval adventure" section of the forum.
I have played and painted Warhammer miniatures for more than 25 years now, but the end of the Old World had driven me far away from the GW rules.
I now play Kings of War for massive battles. But as my son is growing and as he want to play with his father, I have bought the Dragon Rampant book to play some skirmish games in the Old World. He wanted to play some skavens after seeing a friend of mine playing his army against my Empire, so I have decided to collect and paint him his first army.
And as I'm a really old nostalgiac and grumpy player, I have started to buy some old metal skaven minis for him (and for me, as I'm the painter !) to fight against my own armies (elves and bretonnians)
So in this thread you will see some skavens, elves and bretonnians, and whatever I want to paint and collect for my fantasy games.
For my elves, some wardancers, a hero and a sorceress (those are the last painted minis for my elven armies, but I have many more to show) :

And for my son, some old skaven minis (more rats coming soon) :
For those who wwant to see more of those minis, just take a look at my blog.
And as always, C&C welcome !
-
Absolutely tremendous paintwork. Can't wait to see more of this.
-
Nicely done! :-* Can you not get your son into painting too? Why are the Skaven on round bases? Is Dragon Rampant mord of a skirmish game?
-
Great work here -loving those elves & skaven! :o
-
FANTASTIC! The Pointy Eared Ones & their Rat Guy Foes look WONDERFUL...GREAT brushwork & a FINE eye for colors do their thing. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Demotivatingly beautiful. :o:'( lol

Thanks for comments, guys !

My son's actually 7. A little young to have a good looking army, but he as painted 2 little skavens and he's not that bad for painting.
But he prefers to play X-Wing for now (and he has too many lucky rolls to my taste ! :D).
For today, just some more elves for you.
- no oldies, but those sea guards are really nice minis, full of details :
- and my white lions :

Breathtakingly beautiful paint jobs! :-*
-
Wow! You've really done them justice! :-*
-
Wonderful painting. :--)
-
Fantastic painting. Thanks for sharing
-
Thanks for comments, guys.
For today, you will have :
- a group of 40 "speed-painted" zombies, used as a "horde" for King of War, and for some skirmish games too (Frostgrave, SAGA, Dragon Rampant,...), and I must finish the movement tray...
- some more skavens for my son (giant rats and plague monks) :
- and for myself, some of my Bretonnians with Jeanne de Lyonesse (french name, bien sûr ;)) and a mounted squire.
Those minis are part of my old Battle army. I'm currently working on it to adapt the units and movement trays to the Kings of War ruleset...

Wow! Those look great. Love the skaven. I have a soft spot for the old metals, they have so much character. Keep them coming.

@all :
Thanks for the nice comments.
I really enjoy to paint those old minis, and I think that I'm now good enough to paint them as I always wanted to do... :D
No painting those days, but I've worked on some movement trays for my Kingdom of Men army for Kings of War.
- spearmen horde

Some news for you, always a mix of old and more recently painted minis :
Je continue dans la remise à jour de mon armée, avec des figurines peintes à différentes époques mais remises à niveau par un travail de soclage et de retouches sur quelques détails...
- 2 knights units, nearly done (1 knight to finishon the second one) :
- a horde of fanatical pilgrims :

- the witches / damsel not in distress ! :D :

- and the beginning of my artillery, nearly done :

Verry shiny and colorfull army. I don't recognise the third demoiselle. What brand ?
(en français parce que mon anglais pêche un peu: c'est quelle marque la troisième demoiselle ?)
-
Outstanding! Love all that heraldry.
-
Fantastically painted force, they look excellent.
-
Thanks for comments.

Gamezone Miniatures.
Very nice, but a pain to build and clean before painting...
-
Wow!!! :o
-
You, sir, are masterclass. These are a pleasure to behold.
-
Agreed. A cracking set of models beautifully painted! :-*
-
Great collection and lovely painting.
-
Glorious paint jobs -beautiful!
-
Crazy. I think this is about the best one can reach painting a medieval knightly army :-*.
Great, subdued colours, very effective, both individual models and the complete army. Perfection!
-
Marvellously done painting. Great choice of colours.
:-* :-* :-*
-
Thanks for comments, guys.
Brets are my most loved army since I've begun to play WHFB more than 25 years ago. And it's always a pleasure to chose heraldry for my knights and paint them.
But as I like elves too, here are some more of my woodies (still based for Battle, but I must rebase them for Kings of War). For them, I wanted a more "dark age" look than for my high elves :
I have more minis to show, but it's enough for today.
-
Always a pleasure to look through this thread. You have a beautiful painting style - vivid colours with great tones. Love it!
-
Yep, lovely colour work. I particularly like the green-power effect on the hand of the wizardress.
-
Great stuff! I love the dark elf conversion! It just "works"! Perfect! :-*
-
Love your work -especial the Brit's! ;D
-
Really wonderful painting. I really enjoy seeing everything you've painted here. Well, actually, now I have to admit that those Gary Morley wood elves made me wince, as they do every time, no matter how good the paint job! lol Forgive me for saying so. ;D When those came out...that was a time the plot was entirely lost. I get taken back to the confusion and disappointment I felt at each new release. But not to dwell on that.... those Goodwin elves, the skaven, the green knight, the squires, now you're talking my language! :-*
-
Beautiful painting on everything. Each one a piece of art!
-
They look fantastic. Great painted skills spotted !
Bravo
-
Thanks for comments !
For today, first is a little dwarf hero from Mantic.
It's the first mini I've painted for my son's Kings of War army. Not really at showcase level, as I've done some kind of speedpainting, but it was fun to paint (and I like the idea of a dwarf berserker riding a giant angry badger ! :D)
And some old chaos warriors painted as commission work :

The chaos warriors are great - very well painted and fun to see the classics!
-

Magnetised movement trays work very well for KoW.
You can build them yourself using skirmisher formations or ranked formations, and still use your minis for other games.
I have done multibasing for the bowmen and spearmen as I don't want to use them for skirmish games, and I don't play WHFB anymore...
-
For today, we have some Skavens for my son's Age of Sigmar army.
