Title: [Kickstarter] Empire in Peril
Post by: Tommy20 on January 28, 2016, 04:58:29 PM
I haven't seen this mentioned here.  Unfeasibly Miniatures is running a Kickstarter for their Empire in Peril range of figures, featuring British and German armies circa 1890.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1934201778/empire-in-peril-unfeasibly-miniatures (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1934201778/empire-in-peril-unfeasibly-miniatures)

Initial offerings are three packs each of German & British line infantry, but they have plans for additional figs, assuming the support is there.  I'm really excited about their British in Home Service helmet, and hope there is enough support to get Guards, Rifles and especially Highlanders.

 :o

Well, this looks likes a great potential source of new VSF miniatures. I'll watch it closely and possibly even jump in.

The Campaign page of the kickstarter is a bit spartan. Perhaps you could liven it up a bit with some photo comparisons of the new minis with other manufacturers. I wouldn't mind seeing them along side Ironclad (very large minis), Perry (Brit) and Foundry (Prussian).

Wishing you good luck on the Kickstarter.

Very interested in this and hope it takes off, would have preferred the British rifle to have been the earlier lee-metford or MLE rather than the Smle for this period, but that's just me, :)

The first stretch goal has been unlocked, so the Grenadier Guards have been added to the line!  Next up is the first character pack, whose subject matter can still be voted on here (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/unfeasiblyminiatures/empire-in-peril-unfeasibly-miniatures/posts/1480732).

Very interested in this and hope it takes off, would have preferred the British rifle to have been the earlier lee-metford or MLE rather than the Smle for this period, but that's just me, :)

Romark, according to update #3, the rifles will indeed be Lee-Metfords: "The first two packs will depict the Infantry in field day order with their Slade Wallace equipment & Lee-Metford rifles, bayonet carried at the back of the left hip, the crossed straps support water bottle on right side & haversack on left hand side."

This alone is tempting me.  I've got enough riflemen in Home Service Dress for IHMN and don't really need any more, but these would have the correct rifle for IHMN's 1895 setting.  However, the 'true 28mm' scale could be a problem, as I've got a lot of 'Heroic 28mm' figures, not to mention some 32mm ones, so these chaps could be a little on the short side.  I shall have to cogitate further before deciding.

After a bit of prevarication and cogitation I am in.

I like the concept, the sculpts look great - now all I need to do is find a use for 'em.

Upon closer inspection, I concur.  That, along with the 'true' 28mm size, means they won't work for me with IHMN, which is a shame as they are nice figures (and the carriage mounted MH would have been cool).  At least I've saved myself a further addition to the lead pile...

At Unfeasibly Miniatures, we aim to produce highly detailed and accurate 28mm miniatures. The Empire in Peril range of miniatures are 28mm to eye level and in a style similar to a number of other manufactures, allowing our figures to blend into your existing collections.

That's good to know, although you may wish to edit the answer in the FAQ section on the main KS page, which says "28mm to top of his head".

The Empire in Peril Kickstarter has just 11 days to go. The first three stretch goals have been unlocked, so both the British and Germans have additional units on the way, plus a character set based on Blackadder & Baldrick. They're getting close to unlocking a command pack for the Guards, so if you're interested in alternate history/VSF, now's the time to pitch in!

I hope it hasn't gone belly up. I was thinking about buying some with their online store agreement with Black Hat Miniatures to sell the range if I read it right?

I couldn't use all the range as changing all the guns would be too much bother but some of the officers would of been a welcome addition to my factions.

Has anyone heard from Mark at Unfeasibly lately?  He hasn't been responding to questions at his Kickstarter or via pm/e-mail or posted to the Unfeasibly Facebook page since early May.  Does anyone here know him personally, and if so, is he ok?

No communication since the update on 30 August. Delays are fine (part and parcel of KS) but just a few lines to let backers know what is going on would be appreciated.

Can anyone advise if Mark is okay?

Haven't received anything as yet,  but very good to hear that there are definite signs of life.

I concur with Tommy20 in that a few quick updates, even if just to say that things are delayed but the backers haven't been forgotten, would have been most appreciated.

It's all gone horribly quiet on the EIP front again. Mark surfaced briefly in mid-December, made some (unfulfilled) promises on delivery and promptly did another runner.

More worrying, he's got previous form for this, I now discover, have trawled the archives here. Back in 2008 it seems he did something similar, which is a concern.
