Hello,
just looking at the excellent 15mm B o B figures posted recently and see some Chinese camel troops.
Did the Chinese or Bolshevik forces actually have any camel cavalry (camelry?) or mounted infantry ?
Pete.

In the desert, reds planted infantry on camels ...

Image isn't loading for me - anyone else getting this problem?

Not loading for me either

Works just fine here

I came across a reference to Chinese and Mongolian infantry camel patrols in eye witness accounts of Baron U-Sternberg's reign of terror in Urga. Apart from the whole issue of hardiness in the Gobi desert, they are considerably higher up than cavalry so made an excellent patrol platform for scouting. It makes sense for anyone operating in that theatre to utilise them...

Picture's working now... and what an image it is! :)

For anyone wanting convincing that camels are a better observation platform check out this real life comparison. Camel next to horse at 25:35

Plus you can do odd things like my personal favourite weapon - mounting small calibre artillery on camels. There's an appearance by my real life alter ego explaining the camel gun or 'zamburak' a little further on in the programme for those of you who are interested.
