Again this year the In Clouds of Glory design team aka Svend and Thomas is heading for the Hamburger tactica convention in February for two days of absolutely the best of European table top display games... So for those of you attending: Come visit us the 27-28th this month.
Again this year we will bring a bit of gaming materials for sale at around purchase prices... Plane minis, flight stands, adhesive for making turn templates etc.
More on our presentation game here:http://www.hamburger-tactica.de/?p=9507&lang=en (http://www.hamburger-tactica.de/?p=9507&lang=en)

Oh just wow! As a die-hard micro armour gamer, your buildings and terrain are stunning.
You really should up them to -:285 scale and then make them available ;)
-
WOW! That's some great(right word for such a small scale?) terrain building! :-*
-
What I especially remember of that game is that the move-engine seemed very well thought out and quite realistic. What I could do and where I would be after the turn was what I expected, according to my actions during flight.
Also, where the others would likely be according to their actions. Stall, accelerating, overheating engine, choking the prop, etc.
So, as close as one can be while tabletopping, I somewhat felt the wind in my hair. ;)
I also like is this special lucky-shot rule (do not quite remember the name of it), when someone tries to hit you. If he roles a 1 (on a d20?) the target gets a bullit through his scarf and so is a VERY lucky pilot, hence the target (!) gets a lucky point or something. Very useful in campaigns, I recall. :D
Hope, that still in the rules!
Looking forward to have a real eye shot on that terrain, then.

Great terrain, that trench line is very detailed, looks great.
And all this for an aerial game, too!
-
Your tables are always a joy to look at.

Some work in progress from today.. Tactica is this month :'( .. But we will get there..
Positive mock-up on board number 2 in casting sand.

Used the7 hours, 2 persons to cut, fit and mount all the trench sides and a bit of sandbags and make the mock up:

Wow! :o
Btw, what's casting sand?
-
Wow! :o
Btw, what's casting sand?
The boards are cast using building spray foam (the caramel coloured expanding foam used for isolating around windows etc). The cast is made from casting sand normally used for casting stuff in metal. It is a mixture of oil and fine grained sand. It can be molded like clay. We then make a negative model (hills are med as depressions etc) of the board and then close the mold - spraying foam into holes in the closed mold.
here is a negative model used for the mold of a river board:

And here is the river board coming out of the mold:

Interesting! Thanks for that!

They look excellent, are the long black poles for more aircraft, or balloons, or something else?

Planes on all of them .. a demo game is going on. We ran games back to back both days with the In Clouds of Glory rules.. At the topmost one the Halberstadt CL.II ground attacker is dropping a pair of 12 kg bombs on the advancing British Troops.

Thanks - so the aircraft can move up and down the rod to reflect their altitude very clever. For some reason I had assumed the aircraft where on the top of the rods, and out of the picture.
-
Wow! Brilliant stuff! :o
-
That is superb terrain
-
Seen the terrain in real, very very amazing stuff! Let allone the mechanics of flying.
If it wasn't for too many projects already ... but Clouds of Glory is on the list.
-
very nice indeed

We just did that.. Most of them can be found here in (6mm) 1/285.. http://www.shapeways.com/designer/mugin/creations
You are welcome to make resin molds out of the prints.. We are not in it for profit.

Outstanding! Did you use any PzGrey buildings? If so can you post some photos to put on the shop and FB page, please?

There are LOTS of PZGrey buildings in there.. Along with some specials (the bridge, ruins, the church, the tailored angled corner buildings etc) designed by Thomas Greve (the other designer of the game).

Thumbs up! Thanks for the photos.
I've moved between three different countries in as many years and have all my ICOG stored back home waiting for better days.
Cheers

Cracking!
I really like the way the sunlight is on the second shot, it makes it appear like a gap in the clouds, over half the village.
Did you say the terrain is 6mm? It has a really good sweeping look to it. And considering this is really just the backdrop to the air game, its even more amazing.

Lovely table. I love the detail, love the planes...but this is one of those things where the rods/stands ruin the entire visual for me. It pisses me off, because there is no real way around it. There's no alternative than using some kind of rod/etc. lol

Unfortunately, our R&D team has failed our expectations to deliver on their promise of anti-gravity tech for the planes.. >:(
That said.. When playing we do not really notice the stands as they are very thin (1,5mm), but they always seem to look big on pictures due to the small scale of terrain elements and especially the planes..

I want to try this for the Vietnam War with 1/285 scale planes. Lot's of work to convert the rules though...
Oh! And those Star Wars Armada ships are just asking for a bash at it. :D

Have to say that is cracking - not only one of the best Great War tables I have seen but also one of the best here on LAF. Feel free to lavish us with more pics of pure joy.

Looking great such an astounding amount of nice details and features! Would you mind sharing some more information about the tile making and the casting as it looks very interesting?
Edit: just found the information of the first page - was again too excited to check first lol
That corrected, is the finished tile sturdy enough to survive wargaming?

Yes.. they are surprisingly sturdy.. They have a bottom of blue-foam (as can be seen on one of the pics and the top surface gets a bit of strength (and texture) from the thin red crust of casting sand stuck in the foam.
With the air game (In Clouds of Glory) we stick the needles in the end of the flight rods directly into the foam terrain.
But I am currently also working on a WWI late war (1917-18) microarmor set-up using the boards.. Ruleset modified from either Landships! or a unofficial WWI conversion of Big Chain of Command.
Here we play a modified version of Mein Panzer! on the boards:
