I've been painting a bit of Rogue Trader/sci fi stuff recently which I never showed here:
Gerson Aziz, xenobiologist, encountering a sandworm.

A plain clothes commissar, or possibly a special agent of some kind

Renegade Marines

Desert Skiff (in progress)

-
Awesome work! What is that skiff made from? It looks like a lovely base to build some badass vehicles on! :)
-
Very RT indeed 8)
cheers
James
-
Nice and characterful. That Aberrant/Sandworm mini is getting pretty hard to come by. Wish somebody would rescue the Trinity Battleground range from oblivion.
-
Cool collection and nice arrangement of sci-fi terrain.
Is that a "space-Jag" loaded up with gear parked infront of the predator movie poster? Very cool 8) 8)
Cheers
Matt
-
Love all of those, they definitely have the vibe that suits RT. These trigger images of games and scenarii as we speak !
-
Thanks all! Glad you like it. :D

Here are the brood brothers of my genestealer cult. They're cobalt-1 miniatures. The colours are based on the spacesuits of the Nostromo crew from the Alien movie.

A new picture of old miniatures. I painted these ambulls two decades ago.

-
Old school for the win !!! love it !
You've saved those Ambulls for a while then !!
-
How did I miss such awesomeness
I really like the RT orks painted in flesh tones.they easily pass as mutants or space primates ;) lol
-
Genestealer Hybrids
(https://2.bp.blogspot.com/-h9oOiOngG_Q/Vu2ZOMeFsQI/AAAAAAAAAiA/YAIWNlPZ7PA6LDgwHctsaM1F1fdIyEWWw/s1600/area23-Guild%2BEnvoys-round02.JPG)
The Cult

-
Nice stuff. :) Love the ambulls. And I'm amazed how different the orks look when you paint 'em caucasian instead of green!
Nice size comparison of the Hispano-Suiza, too. Ta. :D
-
Great stuff!
I really love the RT Imperial Army heads on Space Marine bodies; that looks great! 8)
And in the group shot of the Cult (all the rage these days, obviously), I can see some old plastic Gretchin with Skaven heads. Wans't it you who posted those conversions here a couple of years ago? I was inspired enough by that to do a squad of them myself. They certainly look right at home amongst those vile cultists!
And Ambulls... :-*
-
Ha, it's seriously a coincedence that I finally painted the cult. Thanks to the LPL really. I had dismissed the rumours of a new version of genestealer cult as silly rumours.
They're indeed the same skaven I did with the LPL a couple of years ago. :)
-
Thanks to the Lead Painters' League I finally managed to paint and repaint all my originial human RT miniatures from 25 years or so ago.
Navigator and company

and here an old picture of a band of mercenaries. I've repainted the bases in the meanwhile to fit with the rest.
I'll post a group shot soon.
-
Loving all of this thread - great work!
-
I didn't update this thread for months while I've actually been quite productive.
Yesterday I finished this Tech-gang. They were sculpted for Confrontation at the time and they have this distinct early 90's cyberpunk look.
the gang will be joined by, among others, this defected marine scout.
An imperial agent with retinue. Possibly an inquisitor posing as a rogue trader. His team includes an assassin and a mentat...
...Perhaps an inquisitor investigating the movements of rebellious planetary governor Ruff.
In the meantime a genestealer cult of terrorist insurgents is trying to destabilize a hive city.

Lovely stuff! I always like to see Confrontation gangers (my favourite minis of all time), and yours look amazing. :-*
I'm never entirely convinced when people substitute the original plastic arms - it is hard to make the minis look as good - but your painting skills and colour scheme choices are so good you've solved that problem. What a cracking gang!
That cultist/brood brother conversion is ace too.
I don't recognise the bearded chap in the red man-boobs armour. Where's he from?
-
Love this thread! So much RT goodness. I'd like to say I particularly like the whole bloody lot! The space monkey orcs, brilliant! The breaking news tv screen is the most robbed thing I found on your thread. There is a load of other stuff that I will rob too! :D
-
Great stuff, I think you've sold me on the Cobalt range!
Morris, Robo, Chuck, Ginn and Dez.
I see ya ;)
-
:D
Thanks. The guy in the red armour is a Superfigs miniature. By Bob Naismith just like the Cobalt ones.
Here are some more space monkeys I almost forgot,
(https://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zzAtgCiI2Ok/V97ulBP8MlI/AAAAAAAAAk8/Pe9eECuzpKk1uXrpT_hKOz35-wQzOUdCQCLcB/s1600/1-ork_kaptin.jpg)
Their battle truck,

And a grav tank, totally stolen from Dr. the Viking:
I found the exact same shampoo-bottle on the beach and the same espresso canisters and then there was no way I couldn't copy the original. Mork made me do it.
The Law!

Last but not least; a dreadnought.

Love it ,the advertising posters are nice subtle touch.

Great stuff, where did you get all the posters from?

Wow, what a great thread!
I really like the marine power armor guys with the old school IG heads at the beginning.
-
I just changed the old photobucket links with Blogger ones, only to discover that some pics posted here never ended up on my blog and some stuff on my blog was never shown here!
In the meantime,, I made this mutant bomb a couple of weeks ago:

Oh dear, that mutie turns out huge! :o is there any way I can modify the size with the image code, like it used to do automatically?
-
Love the Dune-esque colour scheme on the scouts!
-
This is a lovely thread - it all looks great! I love the Rogue Trader era Orks, one of my favourite mini ranges....
-
Oh dear, that mutie turns out huge! :o is there any way I can modify the size with the image code, like it used to do automatically?
Fixed it for you. If you edit your post(s), you'll see the BB code adds height and width values (width capped at 1000px), which you can change (proportionally).
-
Brony "the Unicorn" Rabban, infamous underhive mutie. 🌈

White is damn hard to photograph. It looks overexposed.
Re:editing size: it works! Cheers.
-
Really cool! I just am at a loss for the right words. Nice collection and painting.
-
Sleazy unicorn man is agent of prince of pleasures for sure.. :o
-
I really like that one!

Here's my new Tech-Priest. Old Marine Armour Variant (later called Artificer armour). I modded the backpack with resin bionic arms. This guy is responsable for the functioning of the Penal Battalion.

Really like these, that's a pretty calm looking flamingo (or whatever kind of pink beaked avian type creature it is). The weirdboy's pose is brilliant too.
-
I like these a lot, the skin being other than green is quite refreshing on its own, but they all look great :)
-
fantastic Job and great ideas , the rogue trader universe is really something !
Can you tell me how was the process for those rusty building ? old rusty boxes or Rust paint like ?
-
thanks all!
The buildings are two or three shades of brown spraypaint on plastic pencil holders. :D
-
Wow!
Lots of cool old school looking figures in this thread.
My favourites are the underhive miner and Brony the mutie although there's something to like in almost every figure on here.
I look forward to seeing what else you come up with.
Ceets,
Stroezie.

It's been a while, but here are more RT toys painted over the last months.
The Great Bubblegut, greater deamon of Nurgle.

-
What a load of crap
Where is the creepy demon from?
And I love your greater daemon of nurgle. I never would have thought of that colour scheme.
It proves what a strange individual you are
This is a great thread and you don't deserve these lovely toys
-
I tried to do something original with the demon and paint it with various drab colours, resembling rotting flesh.
Thank you, really appreciate it.
-
Brilliant stuff.
-
Great work alround! 8)
And I especially like the white daemon, so the question remains:
Where is the creepy demon from?
:D
-
it's a Ral Partha demon. I believe it's actually an old '80's Tom Meier sculpt and it was also used as plastic miniclix whatsits.
-
I really like the new editions, very cool.
What did you use to make the mining suit head?
-
Great little thread this. Loads of character!
-
What did you use to make the mining suit head?
It's a ball bearing with greenstuff grid sculpted on.
thank you all! :D

Here be a rebel Zoat that got seperated from the Tyranid hive fleet and has joined a band of Eldar pirates.
Reaper Miniatures 'Gor-gor'. I immagine the axe constructed with an eldar bone weapon.
I never liked the 40K tyranid zoats very much with their bio-mech weapons. I prefer the WHFB concept of Zoats being wandering mystics possibly created by the Slann. As such this a warrior-psyker lending his services to others.

Those early Orks as tanned, five-o-clock shadowed space monkeys are brilliant.
Consider that idea yoinked!

Wonderful thread!

Understood, but I did like the masks to block controlling 'nid pheromones.

I finally painted my Demogorgon. To be used as a Warp Entity in the 40th millenium.

-
Excellent. Can't see that thing anymore without thinking of 'Stranger things'.
No bad thing though
-
Agree. That's why I thought that Admech scientist experimenting with Warp technology may inadvertently have released this monster from another dimension. :D

Space marines of the Grendizer chapter. Fast and furious paintjob with GW contrast paints.
-
Nice to see those 2nd ed neglected marine sculpts getting some TLC. The contrast paints seem to lend themselves well for these high contrast jobs, even though not so much for flat surfaces. You seem to have pulled it off though.
Out of curiosity; where's the heavy weapon?
-
Out of curiosity; where's the heavy weapon?
lol I was planning to give him a weapon hanging under his arm but I haven't found a suitable weapon yet. I could also turn him in a weapons platform operator. Not sure yet.
I think these paints are perfect for groups of monopose miniatures. I tried painting some several times in the past but I always abandoned them out of sheer boredom!
