Finally managed to get some decent pics of our Empress USMC, modern camos are tricky to paint and even worse to get decent pics of due to the lack of contrast.
Anway these are part of our growing modern Fireteam collection ... not quite complete though as we have some newer Empress sets still to pick up to add to them at some stage.
cheers

Most excellent

One very minor criticism. I don't think I've ever seen the plastic box on the SAW black (same color as the SAW). They used to all be green but over the last few years have come in sand/tan as well.
Having said that, those all look spectacular. Fantastic job!
EDIT: Looks like I am wrong. I just saw some images where the ammo box is dark greyish looking.
Sorry!

Thanks for looking in guys ......

Well we do have extensive files, but that doesn't mean we're right lol. Feel free to add CnC anytime as it's the only way to improve ....

Thanks :)
Practise, took a couple of test figs to get the look then it's batch painting while trying to stay sane. Also looked at as many ref pics as possible and I think the trick to modern camos is to go for more of an impression than a minute copying of the pattern. There's bigger pics on my blog and some ref pics that might be useful ....

Those look very impressive!!
As for the SAW box, I seem to recall that the black ones were all loaded with blanks when issued.
But, it has been a few years since I handled any.A lot may have changed.
-
The majority of SAW boxes I've seen are indeed dark green. I don't know that I've seen a black one, but I'm sure they exist.
-
I don't think it detracts from the minis in any way, nor do I think you should correct it, but Elbows and Schriv are right. The black boxes are blanks and the green are live ammo. This is to help people distinguish them when they are gearing up. Just like how training rounds are tipped bright green.
-
:-* too damn good!
-
Thanks gents ....... and I'll probably change the box colour at some stage, not sure I'll repost the pic though :)
-
Just like how training rounds are tipped bright green.
...Wait, what?
Green tips mean they are M855 and not M193, the difference being the core of the projectile.
-
I just know the orange tipped ones glow and look pretty as they go down range.
;D

I must have being doing a lot of practice in Afghanistan then. :)

It appears that the trainers that told us that at USMA were either lying to us or didn't know what they were talking about then. Not really a surprise to be quite honest. I'm not too proud to admit when I'm wrong, my bad gents.

All is good - I just had a "Misinformation is a weapon of mass-destruction" moment ;)

No worries, the more you know!

Those figures look great. Just wish I had the patience to paint that well.
