Title: Just found a source of cheap 1/48 scale vehicles
Post by: zemjw on March 04, 2016, 01:43:09 PM: I was wandering around my local toyshop at lunchtime and found a make of vehicles I hadn't heard of before. I took the chance on a couple, as they were only £6.00(ish) each - a petrol tanker and single decker bus.

Checking Amazon when I got back, they claim to be 1:48 scale :D

The make is Motorzone - Amazon uk link (https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=motorzone) and they have a variety of emergency vehicles, as well as buses, trucks and a motorhome, most for under a tenner.

I know vehicle scales vary wildly, but these are the first 1/48 toy ones I've seen. If anyone can add to the list of makes and manufacturers, please do.

The slightly annoying thing is that a project I'd just talked myself out of may have just got back onto the todo list ;D

Post by: carlos marighela on March 04, 2016, 02:12:23 PM: Those are marketed under a range of names, they're a generic Chinese make. Locally, K-mart stock them. Here if any size is nominated they are listed as 1/50 but in truth they are fit the box scale.

Post by: von Lucky on March 04, 2016, 10:14:30 PM: Saw these yesterday when I was at Kmart. There's some nice ones in the range (for the price). They had 1:56-1:60 on the box. They look to be anywhere from 1:48 to 1:72.

I recognize a few of the vehicles as having shown up in the playsets sold by Walmart and Toys R us, but there's some neat vehicles in there that I've not seen before. That Car Transporter looks perfectly compacted. I've got one that's more true-scale and it's HUGE!

I'd be most interested in the trucks, vans and motorhomes. :)
