I'm working on some plastic cultists:
Also, one of my favourite sculptors is Kev White from Hasslefree and I have this idea of slowly building a warband with his sculpts. I added a little detail for her to look more comfortable in the winter setting.
Hope you like them, and this will help forcing me to finish them along with the cultist wizard, apprentice and captain :)

Love the colour scheme on those cultists, and the Hasslefree gal's furry hood (no, that's not a euphemism!)
-
With those colors I'd love to see skeletor leading that army :-)
-
I get easily distracted... and that means I'm sculpting a beastman shaman apprentice... probably the full shaman will follow.

Sorry for the crappy picture, I'll blame the phone.

Lovely looking cultists - great colour scheme!
Looking forward to seeing the completed wizards!.
-
That shield emblem made me think "Hail, HYDRA!". Or, "Cthulhu fthagn!". lol
-
What putty are you using sd?
-
Thanks for the comments, I think my cthultists will be chanting about Father Dagon and Mother Hydra...
I'm using GF9 Grey Stuff, just cause it's easy to order it online. Hope to be able to sculpt a little this weekend.

Advances on the beastman apprentice... now with a slightly better picture :)

Very impressive sculpting skill, steeldragon!
-
and it's almost done...
He needs something on his arms, and finish the staff, plus some details here and there...
Andres
-
Wow. Nice work. I look forward to seeing more of it.
-
Fantastic.
-
Now the apprentice is almost done, a few straps and I call it finished.

I also started sculpting the Shaman. I already like the pose and I'm already considering alternatives for a cool Beastman captain (that means I spend time on the internet looking for pictures and references). I don't know if I'll try to cast this set of ministures, but I'm still cosidering casting issues when sculpting the poses, weapons and so on.

Hope you like them. Suggestions and ideas are also welcomed.

Great looking models all around. The sculpts are quite striking. The hunched pose of the WIP shaman is really interesting. I don't know how well beatmen age (I figure worse than humans but better than dogs :) ) but it would be really cool to see him as rather old. The idea of a cruel old beastman who suffers advancing age which causes him to enjoy hurting others a little too much and keep an eye on his young apprentice who sniffs for weakness seems like a cool premise to me.
-
Wow! Very ipressive sculpting skills you have steeldragon. Very good work man!
-
Thanks for the comments and encouragement!
I've always had this idea of sculpting myself an army... clearly when I was dabbling in 40K that was not a good idea without extensive use of moulding, and resin and silicone can get messy and time consuming (and clearly less fun than sculpt).
Now Frostgrave made me return to miniatures and return to this crazy idea of a warband that I sculpted...

Nice characterful facial features.

:o
Very impressive. Love the face.
-
It's truly incredible to see such art and craftsmanship. Really well done. Looking forward to seeing more pics!
I'll be showing my sons these pics tonight.... They're going to be amazed.
-
Another session of bad photography... soon they will be finished and I'll get some proper pictures.

I'm considering doing him a cape... what do you guys think?
-
Wow! Those cultists look fantastic and the sculpting is awe inspiring. Too bad talent does not come in a jar so I could have some.
-
what a talent you have sir...
-
Almost done, I didn't had that much time for sculpting this weekend. I'm already planning what to do for the captain :)

Excellent sculpting!
-
Just...wow. Incredible results.
-
amazing stuff!
-
I've been doing some commissions and also had a baby but now I've been playing again... and that means I also want to do more stuff... I didn't found an option I liked for nullmen and then I saw the gorgeous illustration in the Frostgrave Folio and decided to sculpt a couple of those...
This is the first one:
Andres
-
Great stuff!
-
Those are looking great!
-
:) look awesome..fab job
-
Those are looking great!
I had a terrible "Sempai noticed me!" moment specially considering I'm a grown man in my late thirties...
Thanks for the comments, I'll keep working on them :)
Andres
-
Are the Nullmen going to get cast up?
-
That's some nice sculpting work there!
Is that ProCreate?
-
Yes they are sculpted in ProCreate. I'm not sure if I can cast this figures, as I've clearly stated I was basing them on illustrations I do not own... unless Nick wants them or I get permission for a small "garage" cast run.

So I haven't been able to do a lot as my wife is out of the country for business and I have an 8 month baby...
But I was able to sculpt this while he was sleeping in my lap, a Wall effect after I discovered they are huge!
Andres
-
So I painted my wall :)
I have another one that I tried to be ice instead of stone, we'll see how that goes.
Andres
-
That's a great piece of work - well done!
-
Agree - very nice painting.
-
:) awesome job.
-
Thanks for the encouragement :)
I tried to do something different for the second one, an ice wall. In theory I need one for the Wizard and a second one for the apprentice.
Let's see if I don't get distracted by terrain and keep advancing on my warband :)
Andres
-
Works for me, nicely done.
-
I'm thinking I might do something similar for the silent tower... I don't have a tower in my collection that I could put something on top of it...
Andres
-
Build it and they will come... one of my regular opponents moved to a different city, so I'm a little game starved, and I decided to go with a Silent Tower, but kind of a different one. I tend to have a lot of WIP projects at the same time, but at least it seems my Beastman Shaman and apprentice are getting cast eventually...
I used some leftover sprues from the Frostgrave Cultists to build the structure, that I covered in newspapers and tape.
Then some toilet paper with watered down white glue.
Once everything was dry, I did a thin layer of epoxy putty to provide a firm base to sculpt over:
Sculpting some details:
And this is the current state:
Hope you guys like this weird sort of step by step :)
Andres
-
Wow - very nice.
-
Diggin' this hard. I can't wait to see what it looks like finished.
-
Nice job! Curious to see more.
-
I've been out of the country for a while and now my plan is to start finishing things I have pending... like this one:
Tower has more advancements too, but I'll do some more before taking pictures.
Andres
-
Excellently done, and really encouraging. I'd like to try something like this.
-
I hadn't seen your thread before. Great sculpting, and I particularly like your tower.
-
Looking good!
-
Amazing! :o
-
Thanks for the comments! I've started on the second nullmen now :)
Andres
-
What is this epoxy putty ? . I use wall filler
-
2nd pose for the Nullmen. I use different epoxies, but for the nullmen I've used ProCreate, similar to greenstuff, but I like it better on how it behaves.

I'm all over the place with commission works, a workshop I did and a lot of moving parts, but so far the Nullmen are done and going to the caster and I also did this elf thief!
