The Three Musketeers from Blue Moon Manufacturing. From left to right Aramis, D'Artagnan, Athos and Porthos
-
Wow, they look like 28mm.... :o
-
Impressive painting on these small miniatures.
Very well done
-
Wow :o seriously good brushwork :-*
I'd be deliriously happy with something close to that on a 28mm figure, but on a 15-18mm figure, I am in awe ;D
-
WOw, just wow! Very impressive.
-
15mm - bloody hell Steve :o
Wonderful.
Porthos is my favourite. What a wonderful little character.
-
Lovely painting Steve :)
-
Top notch. :)
-
Oh wow. :o :o How did you get that amount of detail on 18mm figures. Amazing.
-
Abso-bally-lutely splendid :-* :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Ah, my favorite scale from my favorite manufacturer. And now my favorite painter? D'Artagnan looks like the actor in the movie - ausgezeichnet. (sp?)
Looking again - and more awake - he looks more like the actor who played Louis, surprisingly so, especially the hair. But still wonderful paint jobs.
Some of the best sculpts I've ever seen - in any scale - can be found in Blue Moon's 18 mm ranges. They aren't all at the level, but many of them certainly are.
-
Im simply astonished. By the quality of the sculpts in that scale, but even more by your masterful painting!
-
Some Cardinal's Guard
-
Love that red :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Incredible. :o
-
Great work. I hope you will be posting more figures from the collection. Richard
-
more Cardinal's Guard
-
More great work! :o
-
Nice work :-)

Little gems Steve. Brilliant.
-
WOW I wish I could paint them as well as you have. :o
You painted the eye's in the 18mm figs. o_o
These are great miniatures though and even more humble painters like myself can do a reasonable brush job you can see a couple of pictures of my attempts below. Your finished versions and your photography blow mine away.

Wow, you have done an amazing job with those figures. That center figure in the added Cardinal's Guard is incredible with well painted eyes, highlights and shading on the face, and gradation in the hair.
I am curious about your camera settings and lighting at this scale, if that does not constitute a thread hijack.
-
more Guard
-
I want to see the civilians pack once you've painted those up! And the coaches. You do have those, yes? If not, order them up and get them painted for us all to feast our eyes upon - and maybe use as a painting guide. I have the entire range, mostly x 2 except for the heroes. One of each version of the coach. But none painted yet. Your thread may bump them higher on the painting que.
You might approach Old Glory about letting them use your painted figures in their online catalog - who knows what they'll say but can't hurt to offer.
-
Very nice and the replacement swords are well done.
I have the range and really struggled to get the mounted figs to fit the horses
-
Absolutely lovely painting. Like others seriously impressed.
-
more guard
-
last of the Cardinal's Guard pack.
I've picked up the Civilians, Highwaymen and the Cardinal packs. Pics coming soon :-)
-
Excellent painting on those miniatures. Looking forward to the civilians.
-
Sensational!
-
Speaking or replacement swords, what are you using? Whatever they are they're fantastic!
I've felt the swords were the weakest part of the original castings but haven't figured out a replacement that wouldn't be piercing my flesh every time I picked them up.
Martin

3 Ladies from the Cardinal pack
-
Brilliant Steve. Amazing character crammed into such small figures.
Guessing the replacement blades are simply regular steel pins cut down a bit?

yep, exactly that.
-
The Ladies are masterfully painted, Steve. :)
-
Lovel paintwork, Steve, great quality for such a small scale!
-
D'Artagnan's Servant
-
These aren't 18mm :-* :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Brilliant.
Not quite Roy Kinnear, but another wonderful little character.
-
Lovely job on such small figures :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Plancenoit, come here, I need you!
Lovely work. When do the carriages turn come up, please?! :P
-
Wow. Fantastic work! :-*

Sorry, I didn't get any carriages.
-
Cardinal Richelieu
-
Booo!
-
Count de Rochefort
-
I have seen 54mm figures that were not painted as well as your 18mm.
Well done Sir. very well done.
-
Lovely looking figures.
The Cardinal is a religious figure in this range then. Interesting as in the book he is described as dressed like a noble rather than in Cardinal's robes.
-
The Count is great. Chris Lee straight out of the movie! :o
-
Well, as long as you keep posting such lovely paint jobs, I guess I can forgive you for not getting the carriages. But you should have! ::)
-
1st of the Highwaymen / Assassins
-
Wow lovely work on such a small figure
How about a group shot and a scale comparance against a 28mm
-
Splendid work on those! My Old West blue moon Havanitos (http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=60480.35) pale in front of your brushwork!
Really great job!
Jack
-
Truly inspiring work! Blue Moon is my favorite figure manufacturer, and you really make these sculpts shine.
Cheers,
Scott
-
I'm really enjoying this.
-
Highwayman / Assassin #2
-
Superb painting on what is a very small canvas (hard to remember these are only 15/18 mm figures).
-
Last of the Highwaymen / Assassins
-
Really beautiful work. Your colours are lovely and rich and the detail on the faces is just amazing.
-
I just have to repeat WOW... :o
So great. I wish I could paint as well as you do.
-
Bindonblood, Richelieu has been depicted and described as having worn armor at the siege of La Rochelle (and as a boy he had wanted to be soldier, before his family put him in the church), but most contemporary portraits show him in the standard dress of a cardinal.
-
A couple of servants from the character pack
-
Brilliant Steve. They look a proper pair of battle axes!
-
Getting better and better!!!!
-
Truly outstanding work!
-
more servants
-
I keep having to remind myself they're only 18mm. Very nice.
-
Very impressive painting - time for a group shot?
-
The wench in brown, has probably the best 15mm face I've ever seen, Steve. Incredible. How are you not blind as a bat yet? ;)
-
Thanks for all the comments.
I'll get some group shots when I've finished painting them all.....
-
more servants
-
:-* :-* :-* :-*
Very well done.
-
Really just incredible work.
-
Cardinal's Guard Captain.
-
Love that red :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Truly amazing work. This will be a fantastic collection when you are done.
-
A swordsman
-
What a little beauty :-*
-
This is incedible....:)

The Executioner of Lille
-
Very lovely painting as always Steve !! and nice having you here!
-
Really beautiful painting and lovely colours!
-
Fantastic job! Do you use a magnifying glass to paint the eyes? I have a hard time even seeing them on my 18mm Blue Moon Pirates! lol
-
Incredible brush work :o

What you mean just the eyes!!!
I have trouble seeing the figure at that scale
-
Fantastic stuff!! :)
-
More Civilian types
-
And still they come! Those are excellent Steve 8)
-
Some off duty Musketeer types
-
The painting continues to inspire awe. But...
It's terrible, a veritable travesty against the existence of the universe!
Some of your photos have disappeared - seems mostly of the cardinal's guard. >:( This cannot be allowed to stand; they must be replaced. How else can I come back and use these photos as reference for what will be my poor attempts to emulate your work? They must be replaced. And this entire thread, especially the photos needs to somehow be made permanent so it won't be lost. :?
Now, hop do it and get it done, sir. :D
Please.
-
fixed. :)
-
Holy coach horse dung, batman, now that's service! Fixed in less than twenty minutes across the internetty thingy.
Impressive. And my most munificent thanks, Gross-Herzog Mr. Dean.
-
I thought my attempts were good but your stuff blows them away.... Great painting on great sculpts.
-
very nice indeed
-
Hi ! Very good job. Hope to see more soon.
Could you tell me how you've made the sharp edge of your sword ? Those of original Blue Moon miniature are very broder and wider?
My eyes tell you thank you.
Stéphane
-
Steve replaced them with steel ones - usually made from flattened pins.
-
Continued excellence!
-
Absolutely stunning work! :-*

As Mindenbrush has said, I replaced the original swords with pins.
-
Brisemont and Count de Wardes
-
Crisp and vibrant painting as ever... and what a great range of figures!
-
Mousqueton and Grimaud
-
Alright, looking at the sculpt on the left I'm having to wonder if the sculptor and/or our intrepid painter know a certain local gamer with a very famous (in USA) last name - though he isn't famous beyond the local parts as far as I know. A dead ringer.
More wonderful paint jobs. I wonder where all these fine figures will land in the end. Will they stay with the painter or be off to someone else. Or did he answer that already earlier?
-
Very great work.
I don't know how is it possible to paint eyes on this mini. I have truy but it is a true suffering for me and the result are not so terrific than yours.
STéphane
-
I really, really love your painted miniatures !
-
Thanks for the comments guys.
-
Milady de Winter
-
How the heck do you manage to make a 15mm sexy.
Love the texture you have on the white dress
-
Lovely stuff, as I scrolled down the page I saw Milady and thought wow, top stuff! Then kept scrolling and was reminded of her execution :o lol
-
Top notch work :-* :-* :-*
cheers
James
-
Deano, top notch stuff, CONGRATULATIONS!
Lovely stuff, as I scrolled down the page I saw Milady and thought wow, top stuff! Then kept scrolling and was reminded of her execution :o lol
Malamute, if you really pay attention to the book, you'll see that she actually fakes her own death and sails with the sunset to the New World. ;)
-
You put a lot of character on to what is a small "canvas." A fine collection.
-
Another figure for my 15mm Three Musketeer project. A 'Lady of the Court' from Blue Moon. There's no named Queen in the pack, so I'll probably be using her as Queen Anne.
-
Beautiful! :-*
-
very very nice additions :-* :-* :-*
-
A very IMPRESSIVE project! :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
(and dangerously inspiring too! lol)
-
Duke of Buckingham and John Felton
-
Three more figures for my 15mm Three Musketeer project. Two random Ladies and Constance.
-
very nice :-*
-
Love Constance :-*
-
Oh, I don't know. I think this guy, Deano, really needs to get a lot more practice in to master his craft. So, here's what I'll offer - you ship me off all these figures you've been showing off, only so-so, and I'll send you a fresh batch of unpainted figures and we'll all see if you can Really impress us. What ya say, we got a deal?
:o lol o_o :o lol o_o ;D :D ;)
-
Wow... just wow your painting continues to inspire and amaze me.
-
Finally, the last three from the Blue Moon range. King Louis XIII and a couple of servants.
-
Again, lovelly painting. :-* :-*
-
Excellent little collection Steve :-*
-
I'm very, very jealous. Bravo.
-
Fantastic work! The whole series is amazing!
-

time for a group pic now!!!
-
+1 for the group photo
-
That's a good idea, 60 figures all at once (if I counted right and he doesn't have others we haven't seen).
-
Thanks for all the comment and here's a group shot. :-)
-
Lovely collection :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
Do you have scenery to go with them?
-
Wow! Absolutely superb collection of 15mm figures! :o
Christopher

Look out behind you, Bucky! Ooops.
Whoever sculpted that range did an excellent job, and I am very impressed with how you have made them shine. Thanks for sharing!
de Rochefort is probably my favorite.

Not sure yet, but I do have some of those buildings that you have, from 15mm.co.uk. I need to paint them up though.
